Chicken Strip ©CommunityFirstMedia Our 34th Year • Issue No. 13 • March 30, 2017 Free Free Easter Bunny to visit Broad River Greenway The Easter Bunny is on his way, but before he comes to individual homes on Easter morning, he is making a stop at the Broad River Greenway (BRG) for the park's annual "Easter Eggstravaganza." To complement the Easter Bunny's visit, the BRG staff and volun- teers will hide more than 4,000 Easter eggs for kids of all ages to hunt and enjoy. All of this will take place – rain or shine – on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2 - 4 p.m. "The Greenway has been hosting an egg hunt pretty much from the park's very begin- ning," says Kim Duren, executive director of the BRG. "The board members of the Greenway have always wanted to be active in the community, and we are focused on having family-friendly activi- ties. The egg hunt is always very popular." To accommodate the different "hunting and gathering" skill lev- els, the BRG will have three age- separated trails – one for ages 4 and under, one for ages 5 to 8, and one for ages 9 and above. "We hide eggs until the candy is gone, but it goes fast, so I encour- age folks not to be late," says Duren. Instead of hiding eggs filled with candy, the BRG hides empty eggs, which can be exchanged for candy Parents should bring cam- eras to capture a photo of their child with the Easter Bunny, either before or after the egg hunt. Children need to be sure to bring a bag or basket to use for collecting eggs. "Also – something new we are doing this year is that we are adding some hands-on interactive activity tables," Duren says. "We plan to have four to five tables, and they will have activities ranging from nature journaling to geology and rocks to how to use a rod and reel to catch fish. It will be a lot of fun for the kids."
