Delta Tau Delta page 4 T he 10-year chartering anniversary and Founders' Day planning for the 2016 celebration began about a year in advance. Jeff Pelletier '94 and Jordan Buntain '10 wanted to host an event that would rally Delts of all ages to celebrate our accomplishments since both the founding of Delta Tau Delta in 1858 and since Beta Phi rejoined campus in 2006. A committee was formed that included alumnus Scotty Wells '12 and Troy Richter '16; Troy was the alumni relations chairman at the time of the event. On the evening of Friday, May 13, more than 100 Delts, family, and friends from several states convened at Strongwater Food & Spirits in Columbus to celebrate and rekindle old friendships. A program was presented that included opening remarks by Jeff Pelletier, reflections from Beta Phi founding father Kyle Huff '07, an update on the state of the chapter by Beta Phi Chapter President Turner Adornetto '18, scholarships awarded by Tom Calhoon '70, and a campaign update by Buck Byrne '66. The program concluded with an award presented by Zach Rossfeld '09 to Chapter Advisor Jeff Pelletier for his dedication and indispensable service to Beta Phi. Chapter Eternal Dr. Stephen "Steve" R. Arlin '67 entered Chapter Eternal on August 17. He was long considered OSU's greatest pitcher and led the Buckeyes to their lone national title in 1966—the last won by a Big Ten baseball team. Steve was Ohio State's first two-time All-American in baseball. Ohio State retired Arlin's No. 22 jersey in 2004, and in 2008, he was elected into the College Baseball Hall of Fame. He was also an American pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the San Diego Padres and Cleveland Indians for six seasons. He was a resident of San Diego, Calif. James R. Apsinwall '69 entered Chapter Eternal on July 12. After graduation from The Ohio State University, he went to New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and The University of Cincinnati, Ohio. He served the country in Vietnam as a first lieutenant in the Army in the long range reconnaissance patrol during 1968 and 1969. James is survived by his wife, Alette; his daughter, Anieke; his son, James R. Aspinwall III; his sister, Deborah Petrigala (James); his niece, Lauren; and his nephew, Scott. Alumni News Robert Y. A painting of a block "O" was found in the third floor bath/shower room during the renovation. If you know who the artist is and what year it was painted, please let Millard "Buck" Byrne '66 know via e-mail at buck@buckbyrne.com. Buck plans to hire an artist to reproduce the painting to be the same size and in the study room, which will replace the bath/ shower room during the renovation.
