Ulmer '66 Onward and Upward Undergraduates Recognized at University and National Level for Outstanding Achievements a fter a busy first few months of classes, the school year is in full swing and the brothers of Montana Beta Chapter have a big year ahead. Following a successful spring semester with a strong GPA, philanthropic efforts, and a thriving brotherhood, we are looking to exceed our past successes both nationally and locally. With 22 brothers living at 1120 Gerald, Montana Beta is healthy and looking to make its mark on the University of Montana. Academic and Recruitment Excellence Ensue Last spring, the chapter achieved its second consecutive 3.1 GPA. The top student in the chapter for the semester was Nelson Weaver '19, who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. This semester, the chapter is aiming for a 3.3 GPA in order to show Missoula that our chapter has the most brainpower. Montana Beta had another successful recruitment this fall thanks to our Recruitment Chairmen Sean Kitson '19 and Enzo Galliani '18. On September 9, Montana Beta initiated 14 new brothers to our order, making us 59 strong. Our newest members are a great class of brothers and we cannot wait to see what they are able to bring to the chapter. Undergraduates Equip Montana Beta for Success Over the summer, the chapter sent Nate Behan '19 to the 81st John O. Moseley Leadership School, which takes place on a cruise around the Caribbean. He said it was eye-opening to be in the presence of hundreds of brothers from all over the country, all benefitting from our National organization. At the leadership school it was announced that Montana Beta's own Will Johnson '18 won the M. Todd Buchanan Recruitment Scholarship Award, as Sigma Alpha Epsilon's finest recruitment chairman during the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters. Under Will's leadership, the chapter recruited and retained 22 brothers in a single school year. Members Raise More Than $2,200 During Relay for Life Montana Beta played a huge role in the University of Montana's Relay for Life last spring. We were the number one team in donations, raising more than $2,200. Though we were proud of ourselves for being number one, we were more proud of Philanthropy Chairman John Narron '16 for following through with his conditional promise to let brothers wax his notoriously hairy chest. This semester, Montana Beta is involved with the Flagship Program, which provides after-school activities to kids who may not have a positive home life. Alumni, Please Join Us! Our chapter at the University of Montana is thriving and looking forward to a fun- filled year with a chapter full of academic, philanthropic, and social successes. The active members would especially like to thank all the alumni who have supported us through the years. We hope to grow and make the Montana Beta name stronger and more respected every day. We invite you to join us for our alumni luncheons on the first Thursday of each month, to reconnect with your Montana Beta roots and to meet the active chapter.
