Montana Beta Chapter Comes Full Circle Alumni Support Needed to Maintain Momentum, Keep Chapter House at Capacity O ur progress continues! The Montana Beta chapter house is full! For the first time in a very long time, 1120 Gerald is at capacity with 22 live-in members after our fall recruitment, which produced 14 new members. The spring 2016 semester GPA for members was a 3.01. I think we can safely say Montana Beta is back! Now let's keep it that way. In order to do that we must ask ourselves: How do we do that? What are the pitfalls? What can we do better? Who's responsible? In order for us to ensure success for Montana Beta, it will take consistent involvement from alumni both locally and nationwide. Recruitment of the best and highest achieving students is the top pri- ority. One poor recruitment year could be a disaster for the chapter. Election of the best chapter leaders is a must and that depends on the recruitment of those leaders. Adherence to the True Gentlemen Standard by members is a must. We also need to keep our chapter house at 1120 Gerald in good condition and well maintained. We never want it to fall into the disrepair that occurred before our 2006 renovation project. One area that needs work is recruitment of Montana men. One of our strengths in the past was recruitment in both large and small towns in Montana. That led to a core contingent from those towns over the years. Alumni could be of more help in this area by refer- ring candidates from their hometowns and doing some recruitment themselves. It would be nice to have more scholarships available for the officers and members. The officers spend a lot of their own time dealing with the operation of the chapter and it would be nice if we could reward them for this commitment. We have also tried to build a "rainy day fund" to provide for emergencies that occur in regards to the physical structure, but so far that hasn't been possible. Alumni leaders will work toward being able to provide both, and ask that you, as alumni, support our efforts annually and for years to come. The house corporation welcomes any suggestions you may have for any of the above items. Please send them to P.O. Box 3343, Missoula, MT 94596 or e-mail me directly.
