Any suggestions for activities are welcome. CHAPTER ETERNAL Gordon E. Swanson '43 entered Chapter Eternal on March 23 as a resident of Missoula, Mont. After graduating from college, Gordon enlisted in the military and completed training in Texas, where he was assigned to the 99th Infantry Division, Heavy Weapons Company. After returning from the war, Gordon went on to enjoy a 43-year career with Missoula Mercantile Company, The Bon, and Macy's. He is survived by his loving wife, Ina; son, John; daughters, Linnea and Cheryl; granddaughters, Stacey, Rebecca, Lindsey, and Amy; great-grandchildren, Kayler, Ali, and Beau; and his brother's wife, Jean. Stephen L. Johnson '63 entered Chapter Eternal on June 14 in Big Timber, Mont. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, and spending time at the family cabin on the Boulder River. Mostly, he was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them dearly. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Michael, Jeff, and Kay Marie; and six grandchildren. Jerome "Jerry" McGahan '65 entered Chapter Eternal on October 3 as a resident of Arlee, Mont. He was an artist, writer, beekeeper, husband, father, friend, and fraternity brother. He has a master's degree in zoology from the University of Montana. He had his own golden eagle, which he kept in Mount Sentinel, that he had trained to fly to him by whistle commands. Jerry lived a full life, having a contagious excitement about the world around him. William "Bill" M. Velde '68 entered Chapter Eternal on July 3 in Missoula, Mont., after a long fight with cancer. He studied Latin and Old English. He never stopped writing, reading, learning, and thinking. While homesteading and developing rental properties in Missoula, Bill also managed the local Baskin Robbins store and drove a taxi. He always had the most interesting stories and informed opinions to share on any subject. Bill is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his children, Todd, Tyce, Elizabeth, and Chryssa; and his six grandchildren. ALUMNI NEWS Jack A. Leclaire '52 was overjoyed to visit his six grandsons and five granddaughters. Jack and his wife, Joann, live in Moscow, Idaho, and have five children: Connie, Terrie, Tim, Tom, and Mike.
