The7thannualOktober- fest returns to Red Bluff 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, on the corner of Jefferson and Elm streets. Authentic German folk dances will be performed by the Redding Interna- tional Couples Performing Dancers. Traditional Ger- man music will be played throughout the evening, as well as music to accompany street dancing by a local DJ. Draft beer, wines and soft drinks can be enjoyed in the beer garden, along with au- thentic German food such as bratwurst, German po- tato salad, cabbage salad and Black Forest cake. Oktoberfest event tick- ets, which include the meal, can be purchased pre-sale for $10 each or $12 each at the door. A reduced price of $5 for ages 6-12 and free to children younger than 5 is offered. A raffle will be held for a tri-tip dinner for 30, do- nated by Cornerstone Com- munity Bank, with just 100 tickets being sold for $20 each. In addition, gift bas- kets including gift certif- icates and merchandise such as local wines, beer and golf passes can be won in a separate raffle. Oppor- tunity tickets to win these items are available for pur- chase at Oktoberfest. Tick- ets for the tri-tip dinner may purchased by calling the church at 527-5205. Free yearly TRAX bus passes are available for qualified veterans at the VSO offices. We will issue the bus passes at the Red Bluff office and at our sat- ellite offices in Corning and Los Molinos. Please see the VSO office sched- ules below. Tehama County Live Inspired For Tomorrow, or LIFT, will be held at the Tehama District Fair- ground on Nov. 18. This is similar to a stand down for homeless or low in- come veterans and others in our county. There will be a veterans section with nine veterans organiza- tions, including two vet- erans with PTSD service dog groups and our first equine therapy veterans with PTSD organization. Please plan to participate or volunteer. We hope to see you there. There are many state and federal benefits and programs available to vet- erans and their depen- dents. To find out if you are eligible for any of these benefits, call the Tehama County Veter- ans Service Office at 529- 3664. The VSO address is the Bank of America Build- ing, 955 Main St., Ste. C, in Red Bluff. Office ap- pointment hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. The Red Bluff of- fice VSO is by appoint- ment only. Corning VSO walk-ins are at the Veter- ans Memorial Hall 9-11 a.m. the every Tuesday of the month. Los Molinos walk-ins are at the Pub- lic Library 9:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays. DMV forms for "Veteran" designated on your driver's license are available at all VSO of- fices. The Tehama County ID card is available in the Red Bluff VSO office. In- carcerated and Probation Veteran appointments are Thursday mornings. Fri- day's we are closed for administration and out- reach. The sculpture, created by area artist James Phillips, is titled Seeking Order. The campus community and the public are invited to the un- veiling ceremony. Seeking Order consists of three concrete columns, 8 feet tall and 12 inches square. The three columns represent the arts, the hu- manities and the sciences. Each column holds 32 indi- vidual, low-relief composi- tions that represent the ed- ucational sub-disciplines that work together in the search for order, referenced in the title.
