The Musings of Pitt Dickey Man of La Mancha at CFRT Givens Performing Arts Center Cirque Montage CUMBERLAND Johnson Represents County At Conference Commissioners Receive Honors At Conference Cumberland County commissioners picked up honors at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners annual conference Aug. 11-14 in Forsyth County. Commissioner Kenneth Edge was inducted into the NCACC Hall of Fame, which recognizes individuals who have been active in NCACC and those who have made significant contributions to county government. Commissioner Jeannette Council received the 2016 M.H. "Jack" Brock Outstanding County Commissioner Award, which is presented annually to a commissioner who has demonstrated special achievement and efforts on behalf of county government throughout the state or region. Commissioner Charles Evans was sworn in as the new second vice president of the North Carolina Association of Black County Officials. Chairman Marshall Faircloth was elected to a two-year term as the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners District 6 Director. Cumberland County 4-H Youth member Ashlyn Johnson served as the Youth Summit Delegate for Cumberland County at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners Conference held Aug. 11-14 in Forsyth County. The Village Christian Academy sophomore is a member of the Cumberland County Thunder Hooves 4-H Club, Cumberland County 4-H Youth Council and the Cumberland County Jr. Fair Advisory Board. Johnson won the gold medal in her age division in the 4-H County Activity Day, where she qualified for District competition in public speaking and demonstrations. She is the daughter of Billy and Lisha Johnson. Linden Little River Park Opens Cumberland County's newest park is ready for use. Work on the 38-acre Linden Little River Park is complete and a ceremony will dedicate the park Friday at 2 p.m. The first phase of the park includes a walking trail, children's playground unit, hard-surface court, multi-purpose field, bocce court, horseshoe pit, picnic shelter, benches, lighting and a parking lot. The park cost $424,800 and included a $212,400 grant from the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund. Cumberland County provided matching funding of $212,400, through its 5-cent recreation tax. Johnson co.cumberland.nc.us
