Eighteen different classes spread over eight weeks of the summer will allow preschoolers through high school students to have fun while learning something new. "We have been offering the camp in some form or another for more than 20 years," says CCAC President Shearra Miller. Last sum- mer more than 400 children attended the camp. "I think parents and kids appreciate the wide variety of classes that we offer," says Miller. "And the teachers are very qualified and do a wonderful job of teaching the children while they do some- thing fun. It's a win-win situation." Miller says the teachers themselves develop the classes and write the descriptions. Classes this year vary from "Comic Book Arts & Crafts" to "Cool Clay Critters!" to "Christmas in July." In addition to painting, clay and other fine arts skills, children can also take musical classes such as "Beginning Guitar" or drama offerings such as "It's Show Time!" Younger and older children are also included in this year's class offerings: "Pre-School Beach Party!" taking place July 18 – 22, 2016, is for ages 4-5 only, and "Making It Up As You Go: Intro to Improv," taking place June 27 – July 1, 2016, is for rising 7th-12th graders. "No experience is necessary; we just want the kids to come and learn and have fun," says Miller. A reception at the end of the summer will allow class participants and their families to view their own work along with those of the other campers from throughout the summer. Classes are individually priced, although there is a 10 percent dis- count for children who sign up for all eight weeks of classes. All of the classes will be held either at the Arts Center (at 111 S. Washington St. in Shelby) or at Springmore Elementary School in Boiling Springs.
