May 30, 2012 Quartzsite,, AZ- Quartzsite's donation angel, Sandee Wall and her husband Dennis, once again provided Quartz- site Food Bank with much needed peanut butter and cereals. The Walls generous donation of almost $1000 worth of peanut butter will help provide low income families with additional protein additions to their summer meals. The Peanut Institute reports that the peanut contains more plant protein than any other legume or nut – almost 8 grams per serving! This is especially valuable information for those that have a hard time getting an adequate amount of protein in their www.DesertMessenger.com Donations of peanut butter to Food Bank diets, either due to a vegan/vegetar- ian lifestyle or a fi nancial situation that makes purchasing quality meats a hardship. Peanut butter naturally contains no cholesterol, and one ounce (that's a small handful) contains 2 grams of fi ber. That's almost 10% of your daily needs! This same small amount will provide 16% of the daily recommend- ed amount of vitamin E – the same antioxidant that has been shown to reduce your chance of heart disease.
