K...is it Kind? May there be a peace within you, Quartzsite. Janepher McBride Donating book I have a new book on Michelle Bach- mann called "Core of Conviction". I'll be taking to the Quartzsite Library so it can be checked out for anyone to read. It is an excellent book, but it isn't doing much good on my bookshelves. I would like more people to be able to read it. So stop in at the Library and read a good book. Joanne Robinson, Quartzsite To serve, not rule When people choose to give back to their community, as we should, (I've been there, done that) in some way www.DesertMessenger.com THE PEOPLE'S VOICE there should be no expectation of personal gain. The idea is to serve not to rule. I understand people running for elected public office on the Federal, State, even in big cities spending crazy money because they are after the high paying positions with all the fringe benefits, but in our little town, why in the world would people do this. The only explanation I can come up with is it goes to rule (not serve) and want power to dictate and control the town because the Mayor and Council are not paid a huge salary so what else can it be. Hmmm. It would appear the voters had the same attitude and they are boss felt it was time for a political cleansing. This should be a word to the wise, meaning the members left on the council. There have been some people that have served in the past that feel they have an obligation to their commu- Call toll-free: 1-888-420-6391 Are You Still Paying Too Much For Your Medications? I would hope the new council will remember the saying by the people, for the people (meaning all). And like Abe said, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time. In my humble opinion, it ain't even worth trying. Hank Covey, Quartzsite, AZ Let's pull together There seems to be a lot of opinion- ated people out there. As always, I will respect you and your paper. There are times, as you know, that I disagree with you, which is what a Citizen of America has a right to do, but I will not now, or ever question your profes- sionalism as a Newspaper Publisher & Editor. Both sides of the conflict, here in Quartzsite need to grow up and agree to disagree in an adult fashion. All we see is name calling innuendo and continuous legal action by both sides. Let it Rest People. The Election LETTERS TO EDITOR POLICY taste, on a personal issue, mean spir- ited or dominated by Scripture quotes will not be published. Third party letters will not be accepted. All of you live and thrive here in Quartzsite so let's pull together and make it "ONCE AGAIN" a town that cares about and helps each other. As for Alleged Illegal activity, the State and federal powers that be are aware of ALL your concerns. If wrong has been done, they will deal with it. Stop letting everyone else think for you and spend more time improving our community and less time finding fault. Again, Rain, Thank you for not only your paper, but also for the many hours of volunteer work you've done to help our community be a place people would like to live in and Enjoy Visiting. Robert Nickerson, Former Owner & Editor, Quartzsite Crier News Disgusting at best As a resident of Quartzsite, Arizona I take great offense at the treatment delivered to Quartzsite resident Violet Kiss by the Board of Supervisors at the May 7th meeting. At Call to the Public, Violet Kiss shared the truth of our situation in Quartzsite, and she showed just how County Attorney Sam Vederman is di- rectly responsible for the risk to safety of our residents, our town leaders, our police chief and his peace officers. Holly Irwin had the audacity to call it a political situation and a bash- ing that does not belong at Call to the Public. What we are enduring in Quartzsite is NOT a political situ- ation; it is a criminal situation and County Attorney Sam Vederman shows extreme favortism to mem- bers of the Citizens Coalition who are verbally abusing, intimidating, and delivering death threats to our leaders and our residents. County Attorney Sam Vederman consistently dismisses case after case, keeping our town leaders and resi- dents in harms' way while he supports even the most violent of these Coali- tion members, Michael Roth by say- ing "Roth maintains that his charges are politically motivated." We know the truth down here be- cause we are living the nightmare that the County is allowing to exist, even encouraging to continue. John Drum SEE LETTERS PAGE 5 Their Price Our Price
