Regardless of the outcome, Kings Mountain will be involved in the fi rst round of the 3A playoffs beginning Nov. 13th. BURNS BULLDOGS vs. CREST CHARGERS: Another Cleveland County rivalry contest took place last week and it was a one-sided affair as Crest dominated Burns by a fi nal of 41-0 in this long time series. Crest scored early and often with scores coming from Quarterback Willie Green on a pass to Wide Receiver Quen- tin Thompson and both passing and running plays to backfi eld star Tre Harbison. Green threw for nearly 300 yards in the game. Crest defense made it tough on the Bulldogs and Justin Foster got on the scoreboard for the Chargers when he picked off a pass and went 48 yards. As good as things went for Crest, fans have to still tip their hat to a Burns squad that has been undermanned and continued to lose key players to injuries as the season progressed. Running back Aaron Hill was another Bulldog who couldn't play in this game after being lost for the season the week before. Burns fell to 3-6 overall and 1-6 in the SMAC, while Crest improved to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play. Crest travels to Shelby for those two teams annual battle this Fri- day. It will no doubt be one of the biggest in the series history with both teams unbeaten. Burns will host RS Central and will try and be a spoiler to the Hilltoppers, who need a victory to get a postseason invitation. SHELBY GOLDEN LIONS: The Golden Lions latest victim last Friday night was Draughn, who they shutout by a fi nal score of 42-0. In similar fashion to what they've done most of this season, Shelby Quarterback Dar- quez Lee went to the air with four touchdowns all before the half. Lee threw for over 300 yards in the win go- ing 14 of 20, including scores to receivers Jayden Borders, Antwan Wright, and Xavier Brooks. Calvin Camp rushed for another Shelby touchdown. On defense, Shelby got big play once again from Linebacker Dax Hol- lifi eld and Defensive End Michael Carson. Draughn could only mange 29 yards total offense on the night and had just 11 yards at halftime. Shelby improved to a 10-0 overall record and 7-0 in the South Mountain Athletic Conference (SMAC), as they now get ready for their rivals from Crest. While Crest already has the SMAC 3A crown won and Shelby the 2A crown, this will be for the outright champion of the conference for 2015. Oh my, what a night it will be!
