Page 14 Geocaching in Quartzsite FEB. 4TH What is Geocaching? Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. As part of the ARIZONA CENTENNIAL, our group is hosting a Geocaching Event in Quartzsite on February 4th of this year. We will be publishing this event on geo- caching.com and hope to draw people from the surround- ing areas for the festivities. It is our intent to involve local vendors, with their permission, in this endeavor. We would like to plant "caches" in the vendor's location have the "cachers" find these caches. The caches will be supplied by our group and will be a container with specific stickers which each cacher must get to prove that they were at that location. We would plant these containers either Friday night or early Saturday morning. Besides a fun event for the geocachers, we are hoping to introduce people to some of the great deals to be had at Arizona's largest swap meet.
