February 1, 2012 www.DesertMessenger.com people even came to both shows!! The afternoon show was a special one for Paul since his parents Jack (94) and Celia (93) Winer were brought from Phoenix to see him perform for the first time. He sang a song especially for this occasion called I Love my Dad. Everyone applauded them and was amazed that they had been married for 72 years and were each other's first boy and girlfriends. The shows featured each guest at QIA Concert draws two sellout crowds When local bookstore owner and mu- sician Paul Winer played the Q.I.A. for the first time last January, there were close to a thousand people lined up to get in the hall, where they could only fit 800 seats in, so the ones who didn't get in stayed on the porches around the building and listened through the win- dows and doors--it was a record crowd for the Q.I.A. for this type of event. This year, they decided that they would have Paul play two shows, one at 2 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m. to ac- commodate the crowds. Tickets went fast, and both shows sold out again this year, with over 1600 people at- tending both performances, another record. If you missed it, you missed a great show--Paul had his original har- monica player, Will Perone, accompa- nying him this year, and also special guests Jerry Mullins, Ralph Martin, and Morgan Mulac. The shows were both different, since Paul does not really plan what is go- ing to be happening and just goes with what feels good at the time--nothing but a few short rehearsals of some of the songs he may play to get the mu- sicians working together. So, some Located at the Gateway to Glacier National Park, Montana times, and they all played together for the rest of the concert--some of the best boogie woogie and blues you ever heard and a lot of laughs thrown in too!! Paul has been booked back for next year and will be playing two shows again on January 15, 2013. Tickets will still be $5.00, making it affordable for everyone. His next show will be in Parker on March 3 at the Elks Lodge where he will perform with Ralph and Jerry for a dinner and music show. For information about this show, please call the Elks Lodge at 928-669-2550, or call Paul at the Read- ers Oasis Bookstore 928-927-6551.
