Call Bud 928-583-3905 February 1, 2012 Quartzsite election Quartzsite will hold a primary election March 13. Mayoral candidates are Ed Fos- ter, Jerry Lukkasson and Jenny Miles. There are two open council seats with four- year terms. Candidates are Sean Austin, Starr Bearcat, Barbara Cowell(incumbent), Jennifer Jones, Bill Moore, Mark Orgeron, Dean Taylor, Joe Winslow(incumbent), and Patricia Workman. Running in the special election for a two- year term, vacated by Mayor Jose Lizarraga, is Mike Jewitt (incumbent). John Prutch filed papers to be a write-in candidate. Quartzsite voters will also decide one ques- tion: Shall the Town of Quartzsite repeal its ordinance providing for the direct election of the Mayor? Voters will select either yes or no. Voter registration deadline is Feb. 13. Early voting begins Feb. 16. The last day to request a ballot by mail is March 2, and the last day to vote early at the La Paz County Recorder's office is March 9. If you need to change your mailing address, it's easy, just call the Recorder's Office.
