2A Daily News – Friday, October 28, 2011 Community people&events Buddy Poppy Sales Days Daily News photo by Tang Lor The Red Bluff Elks Lodge will celebrate its 100th anniversary Saturday. Special to the DN Since 1911, Red Bluff Elks Lodge has been serving the community in a variety of ways. From providing college scholarships to the sponsorship of disabled children, the lodge has been an integral part of Red Bluff's growth. As the lodge reaches its 100-year anniversary this year, the goals remain the same — charity and brotherly love. For this milestone event, the Elks are putting on a dinner celebration Saturday, Oct. 29, complete with hor dourves at 4 p.m., followed by a five-course meal, silent raffle and live band until midnight. The dinner and entertainment will cost members and their guests $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Many purveyors of the community have graciously donated some wonderful items for the raffle, which in turn will help further the Elks' fundraising goals, as all proceeds will go toward scholarships and other community special needs. If you're not a member, you're encouraged to track down one of the 750 plus members and make this special event a date. You really don't want to wait for the next centennial. The menu will consist of the following: New York strip with sauteed mushrooms and whiskey peppercorn sauce, halibut on a bed of fresh spinach with hollandaise sauce, chicken Kiev with rice or vegetarian lasagna. All dishes will be served with a Caesar salad and sides of baked potato for steak or rice for fish and chicken, vegetable and dessert. Contact Julie or Kelly in the office at 527-3427 to buy tickets.
