Page 4 Hello Neighbors; Welcome back vendors and winter visitors! Many of you will be out on your ATVs this winter. Here are some safety precautions: If possible do not travel alone. Let someone know where you are going (and stick with your plan) and when you will return. Take plenty of water (even on a cool day, you can become dehydrated). Take sunscreen, snacks, mirror signaling device (even a CD or DVD can be used to signal with). Take a cell phone; you may not get a signal everywhere, but if you do, stay with your ATV or vehicle (it's easier for rescuers to spot a large object). Stay on the trails and out of the washes. Carry medications you absolutely must take. This is a just a basic list. Enjoy your stay here and be safe. Patricia Anderson Quartzsite Town Council Small town with big heart All my life I've been told just how lucky I am to live in a country where people are considered in- nocent until proven guilty, which makes me question the consensus "THE PEOPLE'S VOICE" Letters to Editor Policy Desert Messenger encourages letters from its readers. Letters should be no longer than 300 words, and may be edited for grammar, content and length. OPINIONS EXPRESSED HERE DO NOT NECESSAR- ILY REPRESENT THOSE OF THE DESERT MESSENGER. We invite you to not only see a problem, but www.DesertMessenger.com THE PEOPLE'S VOICE of our citizens. Our Town Manager, Common Council, and Police Chief are being treated as though they are guilty, and therefore must be proven in- nocent. Hate crimes are growing in number by a select few in our community, proving that we have some citizens that clearly don't honor our nation's policy that a person is innocent until proven guilty. The only thing I have to say to those practicing hate crimes and other immoral behavior is this: You are very lucky to be doing your dirty deeds in this small town with such a big heart, because when you are finally brought to trial for your behavior the very people you have attempted to hurt are much bigger than you in spirit. Simply put, you will be able to rely on mercy to some degree because the true census of our town is one of tolerance and love. Hygeia Halfmoon Quartzsite What's next? Are the good citizens of Quartzsite going to submit to mob rule? Or will they stand against the maud- C & B search for the solution to share with the com- munity, keeping the benefit of all in mind. Letters considered libelous, in poor taste, on a personal issue, mean spirited or dominated by Scripture quotes will not be published. Third party letters will not be accepted. To avoid confusion over people with com- mon or similar names, writers must provide a full name and indicate the name they are known by. Writers must provide a full street address and phone number. Rvers can provide the location of park/BLM land, etc. Street addresses will not be published. Phone numbers are for verification only and will not be printed. The people who per- petrate these acts are clearly living their childhood over again. Their actions would make a school house bully gag from disgust. What kind of plan are they fomenting for the future? I'm writing about the two supposedly grown men who de- faced your Town Hall. Folks, they are trying to fool you into thinking they are doing some kind of community service that benefits the town; by continually disrupting everything and hiding under the free speech amendment. You may be part of the problem if you don't think there's a problem. You may think it doesn't affect you and you can't do anything about it. That thinking isn't going to help the Town get over all this turmoil. You people voted them out twice and they refuse to accept your vote. Vote them out again by refusing to tolerate their unnatural, inhuman, behavior. Elmer F. London Quartzsite DEADLINE IS WED.
