Thefollowingdefendants were sentenced in Tehama County Superior Court, according to the Tehama County District Attorney's Office: RecentState/Local Prison Commitments: People vs. David Petty, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Transporta- tion of a Controlled Sub- stance with Special Allega- tion Prior Felonies; Assault with Means Likely to Pro- duce Great Bodily Injury. Brief history: Defend- ant was originally granted formal probation and vio- lated his probation when he tested positive for metham- phetamine, failed to keep in contact with probation and assaulted another in- dividual. The Defendant as- saulted his mother by chok- ing her until she lost con- sciousness. The victim had visible marks on her neck and chest area from being strangled. Sentenced to 8 years 8 months State Prison. People vs. Tad Harris, Possession of Ammunition; Receiving Stolen Property 2 counts; Possession of a Con- trolled Substance. Brief history: The De- fendant's vehicle was stopped for a traffic viola- tion. The Defendant was on searchable probation and the officer located a loaded .25 caliber semi auto hand- gun. The Defendant was contacted by an officer for an outstanding warrant. In- side the Defendant's vehi- cle the officer located sev- eral items that were sto- len, including checkbooks, license plates, checks, and vehicle registrations. A bag of methamphetamine was found of his person. Sentenced to 7 years State Prison. People vs. Michael West, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; Elder Abuse with Injury. Brief history: Defendant was originally granted for- mal probation and violated by failing to report to his probation officer. Officers went to conduct a welfare check on an elderly cou- ple after receiving a phone call from a concerned fam- ily member. The victim was found at his home lying on the floor battered, bruised and going in and out of consciousness. It was de- termined the Defendant had been beaten his father and left him on the floor of his bedroom. Medical per- sonnel arrived and took the victim to the hospital where the victim later passed away several days later. Sentenced to 5 years 8 months State Prison People vs. Jeremiah Setzer, Sending a False Bomb Threat — 2 counts; Possession of a Firearm — Priors; Receiving Stolen Property with special alle- gation Prior Felony. Brief history: The De- fendant planted two fake bomb devices in front of the courthouse. His GPS ankle monitor placed him in front of the courthouse just a few hours before the devices were found by citi- zens. The Defendant was on searchable probation and officers located a 12 gauge double barrel shotgun be- hind the seat of the vehi- cle he was driving. Defend- ant was pulled over and on searchable probation. He was found in possession of several personal items that were stolen out of the vic- tim's vehicle. Sentenced to 3 years State Prison. Recent County Jail Commitments: People vs. Francisco Ru- bio, Transportation of a Controlled Substance. Brief history: The De- fendant and his compan- ions were stopped for a ve- hicle code violation. The defendant's companion consented to a search of the vehicle and inside offic- ers found 18 pounds of mar- ijuana. The Defendant ad- mitted that the marijuana was his. Sentenced to 60 days county jail. People vs. Brett Howell, Possession of a Controlled Substance. Possession of a Controlled Substance. Brief history: The de- fendant was originally granted Prop 36 proba- tion. He violated by testing positive for methampheta- mine. Sentenced to 90 days county jail consecutive on each count. Upcoming Court Dates -Trials, Preliminary Hearings (PX) & Pre Trial Conferences (PTC): People vs. Quentin Ray Bealer, Murder. Brief history: Defendant was arrested and charged with the murder of a 14 year old victim who had been re- ported missing when she never returned home from school. Officers located the victim's body two days later. Awaiting Ruling on Change of Venue Motion. People vs. Joseph Cad- otte, Voluntary Manslaugh- ter with Special Allegation Prior Any Felony; Battery with Serious Bodily Injury with Special Allegation Prior Any Felony. Brief history: The De- fendant saw the victim walking down the street, when he approached him and punched him. The vic- tim fell to the ground where the Defendant continued to punch and kick the victim. The victim later died. Preliminary Hearing: Nov. 12, in Department 2. People vs. Travis John Kilburger, Solicitation of Murder (2 counts) Brief history: Defendant was in custody on domes- tic violence charges when he solicited another inmate to kill two individuals in ex- change for cash and a ve- hicle. Arraignment on Infor- mation: Nov. 3, at 1:15 p.m. in Department 3. People vs. Jessie Lee Ro- bison, Murder with Special Allegations Use of Deadly Weapon, Prior Felony, Prior Strike, Prior Serious Felony. Brief history: Defend- ant and victim had been fighting when the defend- ant pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. The vic- tim later died as a result of his injuries. Preliminary Hearing: Nov. 5, at 1:30 p.m. in De- partment 3. People vs. Poly Duenas Sanchez, Lucio Nenecia Madera, Gabino Madera, Murder with Special Alle- gation Personal and Inten- tional Discharge of a Fire- arm, GBI, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime with Spe- cial Allegation Personal and Intentional Discharge of a Firearm, GBI. Brief history: Victim had metupwiththethreedefend- ants regarding money that was allegedly owed to the victim. During this confron- tation the victim was chased down and shot twice with a shotgun. The victim died as a result of his injuries. Preliminary Hearing PTC: Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. in Department 1. Preliminary Hearing: Nov. 4, at 1:30 p.m. in De- partment 2. People vs. Tyler Allen Burrone, Vehicular Man- slaughter Brief history: Defend- ant was driving his vehi- cle down the highway and failed to notice that the vic- tim's vehicle had stopped in front of him and was attempting to make a left turn. Defendant rear ended the victim's vehicle and forced it into the path of an oncoming semi truck. The five year old victim in- side the vehicle received fa- tal injuries as a result of the crash and the child's mother was seriously injured. PTC: Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. in Department 1. People vs. Roger Sandy Bounnhaseng, Alan Duane Doulphus Jr., Chase Alan Doulphus: Murder, special allegation felony murder, personal and intentional, use of a firearm, assault with a firearm, false impris- onment by violence, trans- portation of marijuana. Brief history: The defen- dants went to a residence that contained a marijuana grow. The defendants con- fronted the victim and two other men who were at the residence and ordered them to the ground at gunpoint. The defendants proceeded to tie up the victim and the two men with zip ties and duct tape. The victim was able to free himself and at- tempt to flee the residence but was shot several times by the armed defendants. The victim eventually suc- cumbed to his injuries. De- fendant's vehicle was lo- cated a short time later and a vehicle pursuit followed. Defendant's were eventu- ally apprehended and taken into custody. Inside the ve- hicle officers located a large amount of marijuana. PTC/MIL: Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. in Department 3.
