4 OKLAHOMA ALPHA Alpha Artery Oklahoma Alpha Shines Nationally and at OSU T he Oklahoma Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon adds yet another semester and summer to our long line of successes due in part to our members' inability to settle. CHAPTER WINS COLVIN CUP Last spring the undergraduates placed 4th in grades with a chapter-wide G.P.A. of 3.27. This comes after the chapter recommitted to our ideals and set higher academic goals, marking the 15th consecutive semester above the all-men and all-IFC G.P.A.s. The chapter also won the coveted Colvin Cup, awarded to the healthiest fraternity on campus based on success in intramurals, attendance at health seminars and registered workouts. On top of both of those feats we raised over $5,500 for the Trey Kertz Scholarship for Cancer Survivors, honoring Brother Trey Kertz '11 who lost his battle with a rare form of bone cancer in spring of 2013. Last semester the undergraduate brothers clearly showed their commitment to the principles of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love. RECRUITMENT ENDS SUCCESSFULLY This summer the chapter signed a new member class of 42 men eager to learn what it means to be a man of Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Balanced Man ideal. Thank you to all who forwarded names to the chapter for recruitment; it was a very successful year. NATIONAL PARTICIPATION Oklahoma Alpha also had a great showing with the national fraternity this spring when three members were chosen to participate in national leadership events. Ryan Anthony '16 and I had the privilege of attending Ruck Leadership Institute and brother Aaron Cromer '16 went on the Tragos Quest to Greece. We all learned valuable leadership skills while also meeting fellow SigEps from around the nation. These events energized us leaving us eager to make a difference in the fraternity. This comes after OK Alpha won the Excelsior Cup for chapter financial health. OK Alpha clearly shines on a national scale. FALL WILL BE BUSY This fall we look forward to Homecoming with the women of Kappa Delta, who have their sights on maintaining their first place title. Be sure and visit the undergraduate brothers if you are in Stillwater for a walk- around or the Homecoming game. This year for Freshman Follies we are paired with the women of Zeta Tau Alpha, where we look to reclaim the first place finish we had last year. Thank you to all who have committed to this lifelong brotherhood. I would like to invite any alumni to stop by the house and meet our undergraduate brothers. Oklahoma Alpha's red doors are always open to you. Fraternally, Kyle D. Krieger '15 President (214) 701-4686 kyle.krieger@okstate.edu Kyle Krieger '15 and Ryan Anthony '16 with their respective teams after they played in the ultimate frisbee championship at Ruck Leadership Institute.
