The grant was awarded by the Board of State and Community Corrections in January as part of $500 million being made avail- able to counties across the state for upgrades to meet Gov. Jerry Brown's public safety realignment program. Tehama County had asked for a full award of $20 million to pay for a permanent Probation De- partment Adult Day Reporting Center and expand the Tehama County Jail. However Tehama County's project ranked sixth in the small county designation and received a partial award after the five proj- ects ahead of it were completely SUPERVISORS Bo ar d to l oo k at rejection of $6.5 mi ll io n ja il gr a nt By Rich Greene rgreene@redbluffdailynews.com @richgreenenews on Twitter RED BLUFF The Tehama County Board of Supervisors adopted the Northern Sacramento Valley Inte- grated Regional Water Manage- ment Plan Tuesday. Perhaps the only thing longer than the plan's name was how long it took to complete. Officials across Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Shasta, Sutter and Tehama counties identified the need for a plan in 2002 following the pas- sage of Proposition 50. The Northern Sacramento Val- ley Integrated Regional Water Management Board began meet- ing in January 2011, with three representatives from each county to begin the process of complet- ing a formal plan. Ide Adobe State His- toric Park, park officials encour- age the public to attend a meeting Monday to share ideas of what to do with the tree and wood. The meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. at the park, said Debbie Cha- karun, State Park Interpreter I. Chakarun said much of the wood is being held at Woodson Bridge State Recreation Area, and some ideas already include constructing tables and benches to benefit the park. The meeting will also touch on what to do with the remains of the tree that for so long provided shade to the his- toric area of the park. The oak tree failed on July 13, significantly damaging the adobe and other structures in the park's historic area. No one was injured. ANDRE BYIK โ€” DAILY NEWS By Andre Byik abyik@redbluffdailynews.com @andrebyik on Twitter LOS MOLINOS A multi-county effort on Friday sent hundreds of low-income Tehama County residents away with boxes of food at a Tailgate Food Give- away and Community Re- source event at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Los Molinos. The event, which marked the 50th Anniversary of com- munity action agencies estab- lished by the 1964 Economic Opportunity Act, was coordi- nated by agencies in Tehama, Shasta and Butte counties. The agencies were established "to fight America's War on Pov- erty," according to the Com- munity Action Agency Part- nership website. Hundreds queued through- out the morning, snaking around informational booths providing job, health and child support assistance be- fore reaching the thousands of pounds of food made avail- able for the day. Community action agen- cies focus on giving people a hand up, not a handout, said Amanda Sharp, manager of the Tehama County Commu- nity Action Agency. "Help peo- ple help themselves." About 50 volunteers don- ning red Community Action Partnership T-shirts assisted those in need of support. Words of "God bless you," were traded by some, and others de- scribed falling on hard times. "It makes all the difference of being able to eat all month or not," said Angel Dias, a Los Molinos resident who carried away loaves of bread and re- ceived a care package of fresh produce, cans of black olives, bottles of cider and peanut but- ter.
