A sanctioned Dogwood Festival event, the Hogs & Rags Rally raised
more than $16,000 this year. Many dedicated volunteers spent months
preparing for the event, which included a police-escorted ride to Myrtle
Beach, S.C., and a huge country-style breakfast along the way. Hundreds
of bikers and motorists turned out for a day of fun and fellowship. All the
funds raised were donated to local nonprofits for the betterment of the
Fayetteville and Cumberland County community.
This year, the beneficiaries were the American Cancer Society, The
Green Beret Foundation and Kidsville News Literacy and Education
Foundation. Speed Demon Bar & Grill hosted the check presentation
ceremony, which included a visit from Miss North Carolina U.S.A. Olivia
Olvera, the 2014 Fayetteville Dogwood Festival Queens and Fayetteville
Mayor Nat Robertson.
