It is quite unusual that we are highlighting new music that is from some guys we haven't heard from in about 10 years. One is a pioneer in the Contemporary Christian Music genre and the other caught our attention in 2000 as one of the first Christian boy-bands. Let's find out what Carman and Plus One are up to these days. Carman For the past 10 years or so, Carman took a break from writing and touring to focus more on television and speaking engagements. Over the last year he has battled what doctors said was incurable cancer and for the past nine months, his life has been one chemo treatment after another. Though at times it was very brutal, he never lost hope and felt God had more for him to do. Now that he has that behind him and has enough energy to do it, Carman is launching a new project titled Carman: No Plan B. Knowing he has been away from music for a while, he is taking a very realistic approach. "I'm pretty much starting over. As far as what people are listening to and what they're buying, they haven't bought my records in a long, long time, so it's just like I'm a brand new artist coming out. The people that did buy my records were from another generation." The plan is to hit 100 cities across America. That is a lot of time on the road for someone coming off serious cancer treatments. Carman is up for it and is looking forward to using a lot of video in the shows. "For me I'm a bit more of a storyteller, so songs have a tendency to be a little bit more visual. So we're doing six - 4 by 10 feet LED walls across the back of me. So as I'm singing, whatever I'm singing is kind of being articulated on the wall behind me like a moving backdrop for all the music. So it's going to be pretty interesting. It's something new, I've never had to compete with LED screens, but hopefully it'll work out great." The production is second only to the message when it comes to a live experience with Carman. His album Carman: No Plan B has just released. Find the tour dates and more at www.carman.org. Plus One Back in 1999, five young Christian guys met for the first time in a hotel in San Francisco. They had no idea who each other was and did not really know what was in store for them. Over the next three years, Plus One would tour the country and have several number one hits. Though they each went their separate ways, they stayed in touch and recently some started to collaborate on projects for other artists. When Nathan Walters wondered aloud about doing some songs together for themselves, Gabe Combs thought it was a great idea. Soon Jason Perry came aboard and the band was back in business. Walters says, "I know when we first started talking about doing this again, it was exciting, but as we really started talking about stuff, we found that the three of us shared a lot of the same mindsets. We had 10 years or more of living life away from how we met each other and developing views on what this world's about and what we believe and what our faith is. I guess overall it feels more purposeful." With an album releasing in a few months, the first single "My All" is available now through the Plus One facebook page. Other new projects releasing now include: Crowder "Neon Steeples" Jesus Culture Live "Unstoppable Love" Rush of Fools "Carry Us Now" Highlighting the New Music of Favorite Performers by STEVE TURLEY STEVE TURLEY, Christian 107.3 COMMENTS?
