The heat is coming again. Let’s do a “neighborhood watch” in Quartzsite...if we don’t see our neighbors often check in on them, if we are going shopping ask them if they would like to go along or if we can pick up something for them. Let’s not lose more folks this summer due to the heat; drink lots of water. If you need a ride to doctor’s appoint- ments or for shopping please call Town Hall at 927-4333. The dissenters should real- ize the town can prosper without them and stand aside. I read where Mrs. Jones is suing the town on grounds that the town and council have abused her terribly. How? Perhaps because they won’t respond to her abuse of them. Why should they? They are decent ladies and gentlemen with amazing credibility. Words she and her advisers fail to understand. Elmer London Quartzsite KEEP OUR TOWN CLEAN Quartzsite has undergone some amaz- ing changes since I’ve moved here. I truly appreciate the park, walking path, police presence, and library. It’s obvi- ous both city employees and citizens work hard to make our town what it is. I wish everyone in Quartizsite shared this pride. It saddens me to see people using our town as their personal garbage can. The city has placed garbage cans through out town for our convenience, yet some people neglect to use them. With each visit to the park we fi nd garbage laying feet from the can. This garbage makes our town look disgusting, and it’s M 18, 2011 citizens look like slobs. Please clean up after yourself, or at least stay home and throw your trash on your own fl oor. Sarah Pagett, Quartzsite FORKED TONGUE Folks we witnessed some very unethi- cal, selfi sh, and spiteful acts at Tuesday night’s Council meeting. Our ‘Mayor’ again refused to heed the actions and wants of our council people and the audience. The man who said he was going to serve the wants of the people seems to have misplaced that thought. We had a Pastor in the room, who did not come in at the last minute, and said no matter if he had, he would at any time or place lead us in prayer. Before this Mayor we always had one of our local Pastors lead us in prayer, why has this changed when this was the want of the audience and council, even being questioned on the subject. Our town needs lots of prayer, our town needs the people who reside here year round to sit up and take notice. When we have the call to the public, let’s speak up and say how we feel. I do believe on this one, the Indians were right the white man at the head of our council speaks with forked tongue.  SEE LETTERS ON PAGE 5 OPEN ALL SUMMER!
