I worked in the Kentucky school systems and we always talk- ed about Cinco de Mayo, but we did not really get the meaning be- hind the festivities. This Cinco de Mayo (May 5th), the Little Scholars invited their par- ents to prepare a meal to celebrate with us this holiday. We played games taught to us by some of the mothers with a Mexican heritage and feasted on delicious food. I especially enjoyed the Horchata and the other drink made from a fl ower! We learned about the fa- mous Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, where approximately 4000 Mexicans defeated about 8000 French.
