Page 4 O verall this has been a strong year for Indiana Gamma. We obtained 27 new members for the spring semester including both formal and open recruitment. We were able to raise $8,358 for Relay for Life in honor of Mike "Trigger" Perugini, a Brother who was diagnosed with colon cancer at the beginning of the year. We were awarded with the Greek Excellence Award for scholarship, and had two smaller, yet successful, philanthropy events that raised a total of $388 for the ALS Association. Chapter Recognized for Academics This was a great year for Indiana Gamma academics. Following our top Fraternity GPA standing last spring, this fall we launched a new academic system called advisement. The advisement program was created because we decided to step up our standards, requiring brothers earn at least a 2.5 GPA every semester they are active, as well as maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA. The program is meant to assist Brothers who are struggling by focusing on study habits and personal interactions with the scholarship chairman. This semester we won the Greek Excellence Award in scholarship for the second year running! These past few semesters may turn out to be some of Indiana Gamma's best semesters academically. I certainly hope these trends continue. Focus on Philanthropy Phi Delta Theta participated in two philanthropy events benefitting the ALS Association of Indiana. The Chapter raised funds through the sales of waffles sundaes at the Chapter House. The Phi Delta Theta Easter egg hunt raised funds and awareness about ALS by reaching out to the Butler-Tarkington community. Philanthropy Chairman Andrew Alvarez '17 said, "Having a presence in the community is important to our Fraternity, and we received a lot of positive feedback from people who attended the event." Chapter Excels in Recruitment Phi Delta Theta has had a successful year in recruitment. During rush week in January, we beat our goal of 20 new recruits with 24 signing bids on bid day. We also had the highest acceptance rate since being refounded in 2007, getting 24 of 26 bids to be signed. We added on three more new members with post-rush week recruiting, bringing the total for the semester to 27 and total for the school year to 33, one of the highest numbers in recent years. Moving forward, our goals are to get a higher number of new members during the school year. We believe this is an achievable goal given our rising reputation on campus in academics and leadership. We know what it takes to get that many quality men and are willing to put in the time and effort to make it happen. Program Strengthens Bonds The Chapter has been working hard on creating the Chapter Advancement Program (CAP). This program was designed to help promote the bonds between Brothers that will last forever, as well as provide professional skills for later in life. The bulk of the planned events will be next year. Our Chapter could have never done any of this if it wasn't for the help of our alumni. We are always very thankful for any help we receive from you. Next year we will be looking forward to seeing the effects of the newly installed CAP program on both of the new and active members. We will be looking forward to the performances of our new Chapter officers. We would also like to encourage all alumni to drop by the Chapter House any time to see for themselves what great work will come out of Indiana Gamma next.
