This has been the case for James Nau '74, when the brotherhood of Phi Delta Theta brought mentorship and lasting friendships into his life. He describes his relationship with several members as "positive role models in my younger years. Their guidance and examples have been very helpful to me all these years." He has many fond memories of Brothers that had an impact on his life. "We had fun together and managed to stay out of trouble," he said. Jim earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and today is the general manager of workers compensation residual markets for the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI). NCCI is an association of insurance companies in the United States that sells compensation insurance. Jim works closely with many state insurance regulators and insurance companies around the country. He began working in the insurance field in Indianapolis after graduation, and moved to Florida in 1985. Indiana Gamma helped Jim build his character and grow on a personal level. "I am an introvert by nature, but my experience at Phi Delta Theta helped me become more aware of the bigger world around me and made me more open to new experiences and travel. All of these things have served me well," Jim said. Jim makes an effort to get back to the Butler campus when he can and stays in touch with the class of '74. He plans to attend Homecoming this fall, which will also be his 40-year class reunion. "The last time I was on campus was just after the Chapter House was remodeled and opened. It looked great and much improved. I am always happy to see it in good shape and look forward to stopping in again at Homecoming." Jim encourages other alumni to reach out and reconnect with their fellow Brothers. "You are missing out on a great experience if you are not keeping in touch with the friends of your youth. Getting together and remembering good times makes you feel young again, at least for a few minutes," he said. Jim lives in Boca Raton, Florida, with his wife of 32 years, Cindy. Their son, David, is a graduate of American University and works in Washington D.C. Jim is looking forward to seeing his Phi Delt Brothers at Homecoming 2014 and is "hoping for a big Phi Delta Theta victory in the chariot race. See you there at the finish line!" You can contact Jim at jnau@msn.com. James nau '74 looks forward to reconnecting at homecoming
