More than 50 of the properties are jointly owned by the City of Fayetteville and the county. A list of the properties and the bid procedures are available on the county's website, co.cumberland.nc.us, under the Legal Department link. A new Surplus Property Viewer has been added to the website recently to help potential bidders easily research properties from their homes. All the properties are plotted on the map and different layers can be applied. By clicking on a dot, you may access the lien amount, deed number, and other tax information for the property. To place a bid on any of the properties, visit the County Attorney's Office on the fifth floor of the Courthouse, 117 Dick St., and complete the Offer to Purchase form and pay the bid deposit and other costs. If you have questions about the bid procedures, call the legal office at 910-678-7762. The Surplus Property Finder is one of several GIS applications offered by the county's Information Services Department through the county's website. The Tax Parcel Viewer provides property tax and assessment information as well as data on nearby schools and internet broadband availability. Users can search for a specific address or parcel number, view property characteristics, and share the data with a friend or co-worker.
