I know one grandma who had so much fun dis- tributing the prizes she's returning again this year! Speaking of fun, there's been quite a bit of chatter on a little known group on Facebook called Quartzsite Chatter started in the fall by local Jenny Mills. The group has grown to over 375 members who are sharing their suggestions for a better Quartzsite. Ideas have spawned some amazing results as well as folks making new friends. Check it out and share your ideas. Be sure to also check out the ideas for The Pay It Forward Day on Page 10 of this edition. When you start giving is such a way, you'll enjoy it so much, you might get addicted. Imagine the blessings shared with such a simple concept. So often, we get caught up in the whirlwind of the bad news of the day and we forget how much we have to be grateful for in our lives. Dr. Seuss even knew laughter and gratitude went together. Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened. ~ Dr. Seuss Those are helpful words, as I re- fl ect upon The GRAND Gathering and how so many people worked together accomplishing setting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD. I miss all the volunteers who made it happen. They've all gone north for the summer, but there's so much to be thankful for. The season of gratitude is not just for Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Easter, but for every day. Get out and enjoy your day before it gets too hot and do something wacky and fun! You could Be Anywhere, Doing Anything, and You are Here Doing This, Thank You" ~ Robert Greygrass (thank you from me too!) As The GRAND Gathering is now a committee under the QIA, the QIA now holds the ofi cial record through John Hendrix, the inspira- tion behind The GRAND Gathering. John, a QIA member, suggested the idea last year and from there it blossomed into a fantastic weekend with the culmination of the "Largest Human Letter Q" taking place. For everyone who took part in the successful record attempt, Guinness offers the Certifi cate of Participa- tion. All participants can purchase their own offi cial Guinness World Records Certifi cates of Participation via the store online. Participants will need a special ID and code. To or- der, visit www.TheGrandGathering. com or qiaarizona.org. Also check out their Facebook Page for photos and info on ordering: www.Face- book.com/TheGrandGathering. You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child. ~ Dr. Seuss
