Teammate Angel Figueroa grew up in Chile, and after mov- ing to the United States, she opened her own business spe- cializing in 3D-sculpted cakes. Purple team's pastry profes- sional is Nikki Jessop, who trained in classical French pas- try at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France. Jessop enjoys cre- ating one-of-a-kind desserts us- ing unconventional ingredients and flavor combinations, often fusing her Thai and American heritage. Her partner-in-Seuss is Colombian-born cake artist Alejandra Galan, who credits her parents with fostering an entrepreneurial spirit that led to her successful cookie busi- ness. From Kannapolis, North Car- olina, Lorenzo Delgado brings his energy and love of color and textures to the Yellow team. His cake artist partner, Tareka Lof- ton of Fort Worth, Texas, is the owner of Loft22 Cakes, which specializes in the kind of soar- ing and sculpted, gravity-defy- ing cakes that populate the City of Seuss. Teal team's Rebecca Reed of Jacksonville, Florida, is a suc- cessful executive pastry chef who credits husband Ben with encouraging her to chase her dreams. The French Culinary Institute graduate is partnered with Ashley Ball from Rock Spring, Georgia. A mom to four boys, Ball is a self-taught baker and furniture maker who is equally comfortable with bak- ing and power tools. A self-described Jersey girl with Cuban roots, Green team's Cristina Vazquez loves to mix baking genres. Her teammate, Kerrie Breuer, was born with one hand but that doesn't de- fine her, nor does it limit her: the French Pastry School gradu- ate has made it her mission to master every aspect of cake de- sign. On the Orange team, pastry chef Chris Cwierz has seeming- ly done it all and has experience with building freestanding sug- ar-and-chocolate sculptures that could tower over a young reader. His teammate, Alene Paulk, has three young readers at home, all under the age of nine, and is no stranger to larg- er-than-life cakes herself. Finally, on the Pink team, pas- try chef Daniel Santo Edwards started his own cake business af- ter college, and now works as a head pastry chef. He's been part- nered up with cake artist Joyce Osorio, a self-taught baker from Brooklyn, New York. You may like them. You will see. So set your Seuss-loving spirit free and embrace all the fun of "Dr. Seuss Baking Chal- lenge," available to stream Tues- day, Dec. 13, on Prime Video and Amazon Freevee.
