DECEMBER 7 - 21 CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK ARNETTE PARK Christmas in the Park is celebrated at Arnette Park, a beautiful combina- tion of developed facilities and natural woodland spanning 100 acres adjacent to the Cape Fear River. Remain comfortably in your vehicle and drive thru the park while taking in the sights and sounds of the Christmas season. They will be closed on Fridays and Saturdays. DECEMBER 10 MESSIAH BEREAN BAPTIST CHURCH The Fayetteville Symphony Orches- tra in partnership with Cumberland Choral Arts will present "Messiah," a free community concert at Berean Baptist Church. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. "Messiah" is a collabo- ration between the FSO and voices from CCA. This concert is our gift to the community and is free admission. Featured soloists are Caroline Vaughan (Soprano), Brenda Vandervort-Miller (Mezzo), Melvin Ezzell (Tenor), and Ramelle Brooks (Bass). The performance will consist of selections from Handel's beloved "Messiah." Reservations do not need to be made. Berean Baptist Church is located at 517 Glensford Drive. CHRISTMAS SPECIAL SHOW 6627 OLD BUNCE ROAD Two hours of a Christmas show with all the magic of entertainment and more than an hour with interactive inflatables, for the enjoyment of chil- dren. The Grinch will make his appearance trying to steal the Christ- mas spirit but will not succeed. Last, but not least, Michael Jackson impersonator Jackson Lopez will perform. DECEMBER 17 THE SNOW SISTERS CROSS CREEK MALL Join the crew at the Cross Creek Mall for some holiday fun with The Snow Sisters: Anna and Elsa! Enjoy free photos with the characters while in line for Santa or invite them to join Santa for a full Santa Squad photo to look back on for years to come. Visitors can also take home a unique cre- ation by their talented balloon artist. The Snow Sisters will be at the mall from 5 to 7 p.m. DECEMBER 14 DECEMBER 8 - 23 FAYETTEVILLE HOLIDAY LIGHTS SEGRA STADIUM Get in the holiday spirit at Segra Sta- dium and enjoy tens of thousands of holiday lights! Fayetteville Holiday Lights, presented by Aevex Aerospace, will run nightly through December. The event will include tens of thou- sands of holiday lights around the stadium, with displays on the concourse and a path of walk-through lights on the warning track of the field. Patrons can also take their picture with Santa and participate in holiday crafts for free. Each night will have a different theme, ranging from fireworks to pets. Adult tickets are $10, and children's tickets are $8 if you buy in advance. Tickets go up $2 on the day of the event. DECEMBER 9 HOLIDAY BRASS CONCERT HAYMOUNT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Get in the holiday spirit with the Fayetteville Symphony Brass Ensemble with this festive and fun program in the beautiful sanctuary of Haymount United Methodist Church. Selected piec- es include Tchaikovsky's Suite from "The Nutcracker," Leontovich's "Carol of the Bells," and some of your favorite holiday songs such as Little "Drum- mer Boy" and "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," among others. For those who are not season ticket holders, they can buy tickets for $32. Seniors, military and Cumberland County School employees receive 20% off for their ticket. College student tickets are $8. DECEMBER 16 - 18 The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was des- tined to become the world's most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "My Favorite Things," "Do Re Mi," and the title number, "The Sound of Music" won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Au- gusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household.
