July 24 - 30, 2022 WHATS UP! T11 with Bond, he'd be more than happy to continue as Blanc. "I'd be over the moon," Craig said. "I mean, I'd do anything for Rian [Johnson, the film's writer and director]. If he writes something, I'll do it. Of course I will. Why wouldn't I? I had a ton of fun doing it. You aim for that every time; you aim for that to work out." That's not all he's doing, of course. He was recently on Broadway as the titular charac- ter in an updated reconstruc- tion of Shakespeare's "Mac- beth," and he may or may not be starring in another big- screen action film, "The Creed of Violence," an adaptation of the historical novel by Boston Teran. That film was announced back in 2019 as Craig's next project after wrapping the last Bond film in 2020. Of course, the pandemic happened and everyone's carefully planned schedules fell apart. Nothing's been heard of this film since. Q: Who plays the assassin who tries to kill Bourne in his apartment in "The Bourne Identity"? What else has he done? A: Actor Nicky Naude has done many other things outside of his role as rival Treadstone agent and assassin Castel in 2002's "The Bourne Identity." In the commentary track in- cluded on the DVD release of the film, director and producer Doug Liman says he cast Naude in the role partly be- cause he also wanted him to train star Matt Damon ("Good Will Hunting," 1997) in on- screen fighting. So, although he's not credited for it, Naude was also a fight co-ordinator on the film, a job for which he already had an established ca- reer in France. "The Bourne Identity" was a springboard to further success — and even more on-screen time — for Naude. He's since appeared in 2007's "Hitman" and 2008's "Babylon A.D." in addition to several French films. Liman brought him in for the dual role because, in 2002, Da- mon was an action-film new- bie. We think of him now as a fight-savvy tough guy, but pri- or to his role as Jason Bourne, he was mostly known for more chatty, arty indie films. Not only was he being asked to do a pretty complicated fight scene in "The Bourne Identity," using a Filipino style called Kali, but he would also do his own stunts. For story reasons, the director also want- ed Bourne and his opponent to look as well-matched as possi- ble — they were trained by the same CIA program, after all. With all that in mind, Liman opted to have Damon fight his trainer. Even so, there were re- portedly some bumps in film- ing — Naude said in an inter- view with Film Industry Net- work that Damon accidentally hit him for real multiple times. Damon was so sorry he bought Naude a crate of French cham- pagne as an apology. Have a question? Email us at questions@tvtabloid.com. Please include your name and town. Which one is right? A: Unlike the show's titular star, Jesse Spencer was not fak- ing his accent on "House M.D." Australian actor Spencer was playing an Australian- born doctor on the long-run- ning Fox medical drama that starred Hugh Laurie (now of HBO's "Avenue 5"), an English actor playing an American doctor. Perhaps inspired by Laurie's success in masking his heri- tage, Spencer later put on an American accent in "Chicago Fire" — and, as your question proves, he did a pretty good job. I say he "did" a pretty good job because, as fans know, his character was written off the show back in October (though — spoiler alert — he reap- peared in the recent Season 10 finale and has teased the possi- bility of another return). It seems that he needed a break from all the hard Rs and Ts of the American accent, though: His first post-"Chicago Fire" role is back home in Aus- tralia on the new dramedy miniseries "Last Days of the Space Age." Q: What's Daniel Craig doing now that he's no lon- ger James Bond? A: Given Craig's outspoken- ness about growing tired of re- peatedly playing the same character, legendary super-spy James Bond, many were sur- prised to see the Brit jump right back into another ongo- ing franchise. Most of his time these days is taken up playing Benoit Blanc in the Knives Out franchise. If you didn't see it, the 2019 smash "Knives Out" featured Craig and his over-the-top southern accent as Benoit Blanc, a private investigator whose involvement in the case of a murdered rich patriarch is itself a mystery. Following that film's success, the producers immediately booked Craig for its sequel (due out later this year). Now there are rumors of a third. Shortly after the release of the first film, Craig told Enter- tainment Weekly that, unlike Jesse Spencer in "House M.D." HOLLYWOOD Q&A www.advancepestcontrolnwa.com Family Owned, Competitively Priced, Quality Service Since 1981 Rogers 479-636-5590 Springdale 479-756-1788 Eureka Springs 479-253-8967 PEST CONTROL TERMITE FERTILIZATION WEED CONTROL PRE-EMERGENTS
