The forums are free to the public and scheduled for 6 p.m. each evening in Cumberland Hall on the FTCC campus, off Hull Road in Fayetteville. Candidates who filed for council seats with Cumberland County Board of Elections will be invited to participate. THURSDAY, APRIL 28 SPOUSES IN MILITARY EXPO FAYETTEVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Mark your calendars for this year's Spou- ses in Military Expo, including motivational speakers, vendor booths, amazing giveaways, break out sessions and MUCH more. All are welcome to attend this free event! SATURDAY, APRIL 30 BIOBLITZ CAPE FEAR BOTANICAL GARDEN 10 a.m. - Noon A BioBlitz is a celebration of biodiversity, where volunteers help trained educators and scientists find as many species as possible in one place on one day. This event is a part of the NC Science Fes- tival. Participants of all ages can learn techniques for observing and collecting plant and animal data. The Cape Fear Botanical Gardens will have pond dipping classes, insect collection, birding, etc. Participants of all ages are welcome. TROJAN 5K COLOR RUN/WALK FAYETTEVILLE TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE 8 a.m. - Noon The FTCC Trojan 5K Color Run/Walk will be a fun event for all. Run or walk across FTCC's campus and explore the Camellia Trails, fountains and the Rose Garden. The optional rainbow color powder adds extra fun. There will be two routes available – a 5K run and a fun walk appropriate for families with stroll- ers. Registration includes a race shirt. Proceeds benefit student scholarships at FTCC. Fayetteville Roller Derby is a Women's Flat Track Derby Association Adult League team. The team is comprised of the Rogue All-Stars, Ritzy Rollers, FRD Wreckers, Officials and volunteers. Roller derby is a roller skating contact sport played by two teams of fifteen members. Roller derby is played by approximately 1,250 amateur leagues worldwide, mostly in the United States. Sweeting grew up as the daughter of one of Fayetteville State University's most illustrious professors before becoming a legendary Civil Rights activist and educator. She worked with Malcolm X, Adam Clayton Powell, Charlie Rangel, and countless New York politicians. She has been called the "Queen of Harlem." This is an exclusive opportunity to view an in-progress docu- mentary and meet the filmmaking team.
