© 2022 PENNINGTON & COMPANY FUNDRAISING, LLC. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. 11 L. ADOPT THE SEQUENTIAL FUNDRAISING MODEL AS THE GENERAL FUNDRAISING STRATEGY FOR THE CAMPAIGN Sequential fundraising refers to the technique of classifying prospects in accordance with their estimated giving potential, then approaching those individuals (especially pacesetting prospects) in sequence, avoiding any solicitation of lower categories of donors until most of the top donors have been approached. The only exception is the solicitation of "insiders" and members of all Delta Chi boards. Initial gifts should set the pace for the campaign and raise the giving expectations of other alumni. M. REVIEW THE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION DOCUMENT INFRASTRUCTURE The document infrastructure would include restricted fund agreements that accurately reflect the case for support determined by the Educational Foundation together with endowment fund policies, spending policies, investment policies, and related documents adopted by the board to clearly reflect the Foundation's intentions. Consistent pledge forms should be utilized for cash, stock gifts, and in-kind giving to help ensure that pledges will be enforceable. Finally, the board and other interested parties should be educated on the case for support and the intended purposes to which the campaign funds will be implemented to avoid any miscommunication with potential donors. N. RETAIN FUNDRAISING COUNSEL TO HELP DELTA CHI ACHIEVE ITS GOALS Due to the current size and experience of the Educational Foundation staff, Pennington & Company believes that retaining fundraising counsel and major gift solicitation support will provide value in helping the Educational Foundation and the Fraternity achieve their long-range fundraising goals. Pennington & Company is ready to continue serving the Educational Foundation as fundraising counsel and as a major gift officer to maximize the Educational Foundation's potential during this upcoming campaign.
