March 13 - 19, 2022 BY RAYE SMITH TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON DISNEY+ "Cheaper by the Dozen" (2022) A family story for the ages re- turns to the small screen when the new remake of "Cheaper by the Dozen" comes to Disney+ Friday, March 18. A modern take on the 1948 novel, and 1950 and 2003 films, all of the same name, this new adaptation meets up with the Baker family once again. A blended family of 12, dad Paul (Zach Braff, "Scrubs") and mom Zoey (Gabrielle Union, "L.A.'s Finest") navigate their hectic home life while managing their family business in New Jersey. Rounding out the cast of the famously large family are Journee Brown ("Night Comes On," 2018) as Deja Baker; Kylie Rogers ("Home Before Dark") as Ella Baker; Andre Rob- inson ("The Loud House") as D.J. Baker; Caylee Blosenski ("Last Known Position") as Har- ley Baker; Aryan Simhadri ("Spin," 2021) as Haresh Baker; Leo Abelo Perry ("Black-ish") as Luca Baker; Mykal-Michelle Harris ("Mixed-ish") as Luna Baker; Christian and Sebastian Cote ("Monsterland") as twins Bailey and Bronx Baker; and Luke Prael ("Eighth Grade," 2018) as Seth Baker. Directed by Gail Lerner ("Black-ish"), the film features a screenplay writ- ten by Craig Titley ("Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D"). WHAT'S NEW ON PRIME "Master" (2022) The college experience is not all it's cracked up to be for the leads of the new thriller "Master," pre- miering on Prime Friday, March 18. Written and directed by "Random Acts of Flyness'" Mar- iama Diallo in her feature film directorial debut, the film fol- lows the story of Gail (Regina Hall, "Girls Trip," 2017) and Jas- mine (Zoƫ Renee, "The Quad"), two Black women attending a predominantly white college in New England. The pair are forced to survive together when they begin to share disturbing experiences at the school. Exec- utive produced by Hall with So- phia Lin ("The Girlfriend Expe- rience") and Terence Nance ("Space Jam: A New Legacy," 2021), the film also stars Julia Nightingale ("Misty Button," 2019), Talia Ryder ("West Side Story," 2021), Ella Hunt ("Dickin- son"), Noa Fisher ("Uncut Gems," 2019), Anna Van Patten ("The Wisdom Tooth," 2019), D.C. Anderson ("Norman," 2016), Will Hochman ("Blue Bloods"), John Kroft ("Ambi- tion," 2019) and Amber Gray ("Ms. Guidance"). WHAT'S NEW ON HBO MAX "Minx" Strong women are the name of the game in the new comedy se- ries "Minx," airing the first two of 10 episodes Thursday, March 17, on HBO Max. The streaming platform will release two epi- sodes weekly thereafter on Thursdays. Set in 1970s Los An- geles, "Minx" centers around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond, "Guardians of the Galaxy," 2014), an ambitious young feminist who joins forces with Doug (Jake Johnson, "New Girl"), a low-rent publisher, to create the first erotic magazine for women. Working together, the pair take the California sex industry by storm. From creator Ellen Rapo- port ("Three Moons Over Mil- ford"), the series is directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg ("Un- pregnant," 2020). Idara Victor ("Rizzoli & Isles"), Jessica Lowe ("Wrecked"), Lennon Parham ("Playing House"), Michael An- garano ("This Is Us") and Oscar Montoya ("Final Space") also star in the series. WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "Windfall" (2022) Risk it all for the vacation of a lifetime with "Windfall," the new crime thriller making its way to Netflix Friday, March 18. Jason Segel ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall," 2008) stars in the film as a daring man who breaks into the empty vacation home of a tech billionaire (Jesse Plemons, "The Irishman," 2019). But when the billionaire and his wife (Lily Collins, "Emily in Paris") show up to take an impromptu vaca- tion, the whole situation takes a turn for the worse. Directed by Charlie McDowell ("The One I Love," 2014), the film features a story by McDowell, Segel, Justin Lader ("The Discovery," 2017) and Andrew Kevin Walker ("Se7en," 1995). Oma Leyva ("Icebox," 2018) also stars. WHAT'S NEW ON HULU "Life & Beth" - Season 1 Amy Schumer ("Trainwreck," 2015) brings hilarity to intro- spection in the new comedy se- ries "Life & Beth," premiering Friday, March 18, on Hulu. After a life-altering incident, Beth (Schumer) starts having flash- backs to her life as a teen. From these flashbacks, Beth learns more about how she came to be, who she is, and who she wants to become in the future. Executive produced, directed and written by Schumer, the series also sees episodes directed by Ryan Mc- Faul ("Crashing"), Kevin Kane ("The Irishman," 2019) and Dan- iel Powell ("I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson"), and writing by Emily Goldwyn ("SMILF"), Erin Jackson ("Tiffa- ny Haddish Presents: They Ready"), Mia Jackson ("Postal," 2019), Colleen McGuinness ("Stargirl"), Lavar Walker ("Un- cle Drew," 2018) and Ron Weiner ("30 Rock"). Violet Young ("Tri," 2016), Michael Cera ("Arrested Development"), Yamaneika Saunders ("In Security"), Mi- chael Rapaport ("Atypical"), Su- sannah Flood ("For the People"), Kane and new talent Grace Grace Power also star in the se- ries.
