T8 WHATS UP! January 16 - 22, 2022 BY RAYE SMITH TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON APPLE TV+ "Servant" - Season 3 Season 3 of "Servant," the hit horror series from director M. Night Shyamalan ("Lady in the Water," 2006), debuts its first ep- isode on Apple TV+ on Friday, Jan. 21, with each of its nine re- maining new episodes releasing weekly on subsequent Fridays. The series follows wealthy Phil- adelphia couple Dorothy (Lau- ren Ambrose, "Six Feet Under") and Sean Turner (Toby Kebbell, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," 2014) as a rift in their marriage grows following the death of their infant son. As the rift gets bigger, it opens an op- portunity for a mysterious force to enter their home. Bringing in a lifelike baby doll to help Doro- thy process her grief, the doll is soon followed by a mysterious nanny named Leanne (Nell Ti- ger Free, "Too Old to Die Young"), who arrives to care for it — their "son." As the story has progressed over the course of the past two seasons, unbidden forces continuing to wreak hav- oc on the family and the lives of those around them moving into the Season 3. Created and writ- ten by Tony Basgallop ("Hotel Babylon"), the series also stars Rupert Grint ("Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows: Part 2," 2011) and new cast addition Sunita Mani ("GLOW"). WHAT'S NEW ON PEACOCK "The Supernatural Academy" - Season 1 Uncover brand-new magic with the young-adult computer ani- mated series "The Supernatural Academy," coming to Peacock on Thursday, Jan. 20. Based on series of young adult books of the same name by Jaymin Eve, the series follows magical twin sisters Jessa (voiced by Larissa Dias, "When Calls the Heart") and Mischa (voiced by Gigi Saul Guerrero, "Super Monsters"), who were separated at birth. While Mischa was raised as an ordinary (but odd) girl in the hu- man world, Jessa grew up sur- rounded by magic and the su- pernatural. Now, with the sisters brought back together, Mischa must deal with her new life as she's thrust into the strange paranormal world — and her new magic school — all while learning how to get along with a twin she never knew she had as the pair face mysterious threats to their existence. Directed by Steve Ball ("Storm Hawks"), the series is penned by head writer Gillian Horvath ("Primeval: New World"), with Kaaren Lee Brown ("Super Monsters"), Jon Cooksey ("The Collector"), Meghan Fitzmartin ("Justice So- ciety: World War II," 2021), Ker- ry Glover ("Leverage") and Julia Yorks ("The Adventures of Puss in Boots"). Shannon Chan-Kent ("My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic"), Bethany Brown ("Charmed"), Alessandro Juliani ("Battlestar Galactica"), Barbara Kottmeier ("Falling For Ver- mont," 2017), Kathleen Barr ("Dragon Tales"), Cardi Wong ("Are You Afraid of the Dark?"), Brian Drummond ("Dragon Ball Z"), Vincent Tong ("Ninjago"), Diana Kaarina ("My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks," 2014), Ali Eisner ("The Jolly Reader") and Camille Mitchell ("A Dickens of a Holi- day!" 2021) also voice star in the series. WHAT'S NEW ON PRIME "As We See It" Three roommates embark on a grand new journey in "As We See It," the new Prime original sitcom premiering on the streamer on Friday, Jan. 21. Jack (Rick Glassman, "Undateable"), Harrison (Albert Rutecki, "Aged Fruit") and Violet (Sue Ann Pien, "Everlasting," 2016) are 20-something roommates on the autism spectrum. The show fol- lows the group as they learn to live together and strive to build new friendships, explore bud- ding love and find career-type jobs. As they navigate their changing lives — often with the help of their friends, families and each other — Jack, Harrison and Violet experience all of life's triumphs and setbacks together. Written by Ian Deitchman ("Or- dinary Joe"), Jason Katims ("Fri- day Night Lights"), Kristin Rusk Robinson ("Life as We Know It," 2010), Michelle Sam ("Black Boy Joy," 2019) and Jesikah Suggs ("Away"), the series is directed by Jaffar Mahmood ("Young Sheldon") and Jenée LaMarque ("The Pretty One," 2013). "As We See It" also stars David Futter- nick ("Joe & Dave"), Andrew M. Duff ("Little Voice"), Angela Fornero ("Another Girl," 2021), Jocelyn Marie ("Rizo," 2020) and Heather Adair ("The Big Noth- ing," 2020). WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "Munich - The Edge of War" Robert Harris's 2017 spy novel "Munich" comes to life in the highly anticipated new British drama film "Munich — The Edge of War," premiering on Netflix on Friday, Jan. 21. A his- torical-fiction film set just be- fore the beginning of World War II, during the negotiations for the 1938 Munich Agreement, "Munich" follows two young former Oxford classmates — one a British civil servant (George MacKay, "1917," 2019) and the other a German diplo- mat (Jannis Niewöhner, "God- less Youth," 2017) — as they are reunited during the fateful polit- ical summit. As Adolf Hitler (Ulrich Matthes, "Downfall," 2004) prepares to invade Czechoslovakia and British Prime Minister Neville Cham- berlain (Jeremy Irons, "Watch- men") desperately attempts to find a peaceful resolution, the young pair conspire behind the scenes to prevent a war in Eu- rope. Directed by Christian Schwochow ("Cracks in the Shell," 2011) with an adapted screenplay written by Ben Pow- er ("The Hollow Crown"), the film's cast is rounded out by Jes- sica Brown Findlay ("Brave New World"), Robert Bathurst ("Toast of London"), August Diehl ("Inglourious Basterds," 2009), Anjli Mohindra ("Vigil"), Alex Jennings ("Victoria"), Mark Lewis Jones ("Gangs of London"), Liv Lisa Fries ("Baby- lon Berlin") and Sandra Hüller ("Toni Erdmann," 2016).
