Join Child Advocacy Center for a Community Café to discuss Human Trafficking in our community. This is the first in a series of talks to take place throughout January surrounding the topic of Hu- man Trafficking at 701 Westmont Dr. For more information call (910) 484-3191.. FRIDAY, JANUARY 14 MARTIN LUTHER KING SPRING LAKE REC. CENTER 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. The Town of Spring Lake will be honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., and hosting a public breakfast in his honor. Reverend Jeffery Saffold Sr., the pastor at Manna Life Center, will be the key speaker at the breakfast event. The event will take place in the gymnasium of the Recreation Center, located at 245 Ruth St. and is free for the public. FRIDAY, JANUARY 14 ROMEO AND JULI-LIT ARTS COUNCIL BUILDING 6:30 p.m. Sweet Tea Shakespeare is performing their version of Romeo and Juliet, a Shakespeare classic about love, war and death. Director Traycie Kuhn-Zapata leads an all-star team of Sweet Tea Shakespeare regulars in a love story of epic, disastrous and hilarious proportions. These performances are for adults, 18 and up, only. The event will feature local beer, wine, a signature cocktail and light meal options. The performance will be held in the Arts Council Building located at 501 Hay St. Ticket prices range from $10 to $25 and can be bought on their website at sweetteashakespeare.com. SATURDAY, JANUARY 15 POINT OF KNOW RETURN TOUR CROWN THEATRE 7:30 p.m. Kansas is bringing their Point of Know Return 40th Anniversary to the Crown Theatre. With a legendary career spanning nearly five decades, Kansas has firmly established itself as one of America's iconic classic rock bands. This band is known by their hit singles such as "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind". Tickets are available at CapeFearTix. com and the Crown Complex Box Office. HIKING FRIENDS RAVEN ROCK STATE PARK 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Enjoy the outdoors while making new friends or reconnecting with old acquain- tances. Participants will meet at a planned location for a ranger escorted hike. Expect at least 3 to 4 miles of hiking on vari- ous terrain. This month's location will be out at Raven Rock State Park. Children 15 and under must be accompanied by a participating adult. Recommended for kids 8 and older. Register online at register.fcpr.us. ANNUAL MLK BRUNCH CROWN COMPLEX 10 a.m. The Fayetteville/Cumberland County Ministerial Council and the Annual MLK Brunch will collaborate to help highlight resources and organizations dedicated to serving and assisting Fayetteville's youth. The theme of this year will also highlight Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The day will be filled with music, art- and talent from all ages. The goal here is to assist them in these challenging times surrounding our communities, schools and homes and provide an ongoing platform that is as consistent as the times we are in.
