ALPHA AVALANCHE | TEXAS ALPHA | PHI KAPPA PSI | | FALL EDITION 2021 Alpha Chapter. Additionally, the TAEF is able to award scholarships, educational programming, speaker series, staffing support, grants, and assistance to educational spaces within the chapter facility. There are many ways to leave a legacy gift to Texas Alpha. One may make a gift by by naming the Texas Alpha Endowment Fund or the Phi Kappa Psi Texas Alpha Chapter as a beneficiary in their will, living trust, life insurance policy, retirement account, or brokerage account. The gifts may be any amount or a percentage share. They can even be on a contingent basis. In other words, the donor's family comes first, but if catastrophe strikes, their desire to help Texas Alpha is made effective. Many contingent gifts may provide no benefit at all for 2501 Nueces Street, but that is not a concern. Estate giving is designed to create an opportunity to make a difference, the opportunity to remember, and the opportunity to safeguard a bright future for Texas Alpha. If these amazing opportunities are embraced, some will reach fruition, while other donors may ultimately decide in the planning phase, they would prefer to make things more certain and provide specific monetary or percentage gifts in their documents. Regardless, this option, at its core, is meant to provide an opportunity to give something back to that which we all hold dear. GIFTING APPRECIATED STOCK A donor also has the opportunity of gifting appreciated stock, which ordinarily would not be subject to capital gains tax on the appreciated value of the gift. The Texas Alpha Endowment Fund can receive appreciated stocks as gifts. This is a great way of giving, both for the donor for tax purposes and for the receiving organization (TAEF in this scenario). Please make sure to consult your tax advisor for these and other potentially significant tax advantages. CLOSING REMARKS In closing, we ask you to seriously consider creating a legacy and allocating funds to Phi Kappa Psi Texas Alpha from your estate plan.
