ALPHA AVALANCHE | TEXAS ALPHA | PHI KAPPA PSI | | FALL EDITION 2021 continued from page 1 LEGACY PROJECT What a remarkable time to see what is happening at Phi Kappa Psi Texas Alpha. There are so many great things going on and historic firsts that as we enter the holiday season, it's a perfect time to stop and reflect on what we are most thankful for. Without the continued support and generosity of the collective 2,500+ living alumni of Texas Alpha we would not be able to accomplish some of the most remarkable feats that we have today. Texas Alpha is officially at 174 active members and the largest chapter size that it has been since its initial founding as Tri Phi in 1904, what a legacy that is full of tradition and lifelong memories. The Texas Alpha Legacy has been a core component of focus for us this year as we work on several projects to restore and preserve the 117-year-old history of this stories chapter. Make sure to check out the article written by Texas Alpha Chapter Archivist/Historian Brent Monteleone '84 on the exciting projects that are underway currently. Over the past 3-4 years alumni, family, friends, and guests have had the opportunity to see firsthand the world class facility and brotherhood to go along with it. These things are not possible without the vision and dedication of alumni that understand the value and importance of having a well-rounded fraternity experience during their time in college. The profound impact that those experiences, memories, and relationships have had on all of our lives are priceless and immeasurable. As we talk about and discuss Legacy and what it means to leave one. We ask that you take the time to consider making a meaningful gift and contribution to the fraternity if Phi Kappa Psi means something to you, or someone you love, and Texas Alpha has played a role in that experience, as it has done for a few thousand fortunate men, children, and friends over the last 117 years, then please consider giving back through this most meaningful opportunity. ESTATE PLANNING Are you overdue to establish or update your estate plan? If so, another great opportunity to consider is a legacy gift to Texas Alpha. It's never too early to memorialize your wishes and the Texas Alpha Endowment Fund would be happy to help facilitate an estate gift. Estate gifts can be designated for specific purpose, or they can be unrestricted for use where needed most. Thankfully though the hard work and due diligence the Texas Alpha Endowment Fund (TAEF) has been granted a 501c3 IRS Charitable Organization status and allows us the opportunity to fulfill the primary vision of and mission of serving as an educational funding resource for the undergraduate men of the Texas A SEASON FOR THANKS as the development of the national fraternity, the University, and the State of Texas. These entries are relevant to the timing of Phi Psi's emergence at UT in 1904. The kiosk also currently includes profiles of the chapter's distinguished alumni, along with a separate list of prominent Phi Psi alumni nationally. The timeline and alumni profiles were created by Brent Monteleone '84, the Texas Alpha historian. For a visual preview of the Legacy Kiosk, see Kelly Fish's 9/10/21 post on the chapter's Facebook page. In addition to adding more information to the timeline, the kiosk will eventually include material such as a list of all Texas Alpha initiates and presidents, list of military losses, more detailed stories that expand on the many great tales already mentioned on the timeline, and whatever else the brothers may think of. The kiosk has excellent graphics and is very enjoyable to peruse. More photos and stories are needed for the kiosk! Please contact Brent Monteleone with any stories or photos from your Phi Psi days at UT, at (832) 922-1041 or bmonteleone@embarqmail.com. We hope you will visit the Legacy Kiosk in Austin soon!
