"When I joined Phi Kappa Tau, it was not just for the years I was at State; it was for a lifetime. I feel it is our duty to the fraternity to stay involved and provide support to them. It is important to me to have an active chapter at State so future generations will have the same opportunity I had to join this great organization. If you are not supporting Phi Tau now, I ask you to do so. You don't have to write a $10,000 check—you can do as I am and make monthly donations to the Foundation. If everyone gave $100 per month, we would quickly reach our goal for a new house. "Everyone always says the people they met through their fraternities are friends for a lifetime, and I am no different. Some of these men are like family to me. When I arrived at MSU, I knew [only] one person from my hometown who was even in a fraternity, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to join one or not. The first night of rush was terrible; at every house I visited, I didn't feel welcomed. The second night, I visited the Phi Tau house on Jackson Street and knew then I was in the right place and had found a home. "Those years helped me get to where I am today. In my first job interview after graduation, I was asked why my grades were not better, and I replied that there were other things besides school going on. I got the job and was told my answer about my grades was the reason. Phi Tau was the other thing." "I do not have many memories of my college experience without AX somehow being a part of it. As such, I was motivated to support the reestablishment of ΦΚT from the outset. I live on the Gulf Coast and distance makes it difficult to help the chapter in a physical sense. Thus, I looked for ways to support AX and the housing campaign was an obvious means to do so. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Phi Tau and attribute a large part of that to the fact we had a chapter house and could live and meet as a collective. To give back that which was given to me, I was moved to support the capital campaign. "It was after looking into the finer details of the housing plan that I discovered the Bill Jones '60 Challenge. Once I noticed that the donations would be matched by Bill, it was a bigger joy to contribute to the campaign. I was in awe of the generosity of a fellow Phi Tau and thought that was a prime example of what brotherhood meant. It was not an obligation, but I felt a duty to contribute to the organization that was so instrumental to my life, both professionally and in a family sense. I would tell any Phi Tau alumnus that there is probably no greater way to support their fraternity than in some manner contribute to an asset that will only serve to make our chapter grow."
