Acacia PAGE 3 Indiana Chapter Embraces the Power Brotherhood Collegians Raise $13,000 for Camp Kesem A s I start the second half of my two-semester term as Venerable Dean, Indiana Chapter brothers are coming off high notes following the end of the spring semester, arguably our best yet since our refounding in 2015. ACTIVES APPRECIATE ALUMNI SUPPORT Our formal in Nashville, Tennessee, was a smash hit, as well as the initia- tion of our 32-man spring new member class. Maybe the biggest feature of that spring semester, however, was the approval of the new outdoor space, thanks to the help of the Indiana Acacia Building Corporation and the brothers managing the Kyle P. Simcoe fund. We all returned to the Chapter house thrilled to see what was taking shape out back. PHILANTHROPIC ENDEAVORS We now boast of a signature philanthropic event, Kappa Acaciadillas, which raised more than $13,000 to support Camp Kesem, a nationwide community to help children affected by a parent's cancer diagnosis. IU GREEK LIFE A difficult aspect of the Venerable Dean job that keeps me awake at night is the ever-chang- ing climate of Greek life at Indiana Univer- sity. There are many elements needing to be addressed, but little be- ing done. However, all I can do is make sure my individual Chapter is sound and secure, doing the best we can to not only improve ourselves as Indiana Acacia, but ourselves as members of the IFC Greek Community. PUTTING A POSITIVE FOOT FORWARD Key strengths of our Chapter that will help us this fall semester include high ambitions, productive experience among the executive officers, and a great interest in improving. We see what hard work really does and the benefits we can all reap from it. The active brothers are excited to bring in another quality new member class and to stage our third Nite on the Nile. THE BONDS OF BROTHERHOOD This summer, I took a road trip halfway across the country with my brother, Nikola Ilic '19 (#1141), Berkeley Chapter of Acacia. Being so far away from home made me realize how close the brothers in the active Chapter have become, and how much we have created our own special home at 702 E. Third Street. Alumni, we hope you will visit the Chapter house, especially during Homecoming or Little 500. And congratulations to all of us as we begin a celebration of our 100th anniversary as a Chapter.
