March 20, 2013 25 www.DesertMessenger.com Vendor board to meet twice before summer vacation and updates Quartzsite - The next RV Parks, Swap Meets & Vendor Board meetings will be held March 26th, April 9th. The board will be on hiatus during the summer months, returning on for their first meeting on Tuesday, October 22nd. All meetings take place at 7pm at Town Hall. During their Tuesday, March 12th meeting, discussion was held regarding transportation options for next season. Dennis Kuehl, of Desert Gardens RV Park, announced negotiations are in progress for a small bus/van to transport visitors around town during peak season in 2014. Kuehl helped create a possible bus route around town with stops in key locations and new parking areas. There was much excitement about this possibility as parking is a huge issue during high traffic times. Bob Lucas and John Hendrix of the QIA announced a new Grand event being planned for Quartzsite March 2014. "The Grand Gathering" will be the world's largest gathering of Grand Parents and Great Grand Parents! QIA members have already contacted Guinness Book of World Records and invited them to the event. There are Grand plans for four full days of entertainment, music, town wide events, art, Mardi Gras fun, discounts at local businesses, a Senior Prom Dance, and of course, "The GRAND Parade" for the record! Hendrix said, "We're just the center of the wheel! We need more spokes to make this a GRAND event for the whole town!" Lucas explained they are seeking members of the community to join the organizational committee. If you would like to share in the fun, please attend a Planning Meeting on Thursday, March 21st at 7pm. The meeting will be held in the Quartzsite Community Center, 165 Chandler, off E. Quail Trail. The meetings are open to the public and vendors are invited to attend.
