AlwAys Anchored PAge 4 Anchored in Tradition, Building Our Future R obyn Daly Walker '88 went through recruitment as a University of Arkansas freshman to find sisterhood and a strong support system. It wasn't long before she knew Alpha Omega was the right house for her. As an only child, Robyn felt that Delta Gamma blessed her with a family of many sisters. "The girls were genuine and sincere, and I felt so welcomed there," she recalls. "The love, support, guidance and leadership opportunities were apparent. My sisters loved me for just being me." Over the years, Robyn has been fortunate to bond with sisters both old and new. She pointed to Bettye Nickle King '55 as an example of a strong alumna adviser who showed dedication to the chapter. Robyn had the opportunity to work with Bettye during recruitment and learned "the fine details of party planning" from her. "To this day, when I'm planning a party, I'll think to myself, would BK approve?" Since Robyn's distance from campus limits her opportunities to volunteer, she and her husband, Bill (a Pi Kappa Alpha at U of A), decided to help financially by contributing to the campaign for a new chapter house. "We believe that the new Alpha Omega house will benefit so many young women for many years to come," Robyn said. "Our gift is a building block for the future while honoring the past. I am looking forward to visiting campus and knowing Alpha Omega is finally home!" Robyn encourages fellow sisters to contribute if they are able, and to reconnect with the chapter if they have lost touch. "Even after so many years apart, the conversation easily picks up as if we just graduated yesterday." She loves not only connecting with her pledge class, but also the active chapter through the Aunt Hannah program. "I adore my sweet Little Hannah sister, Sydne Messer '17. It has been such a joy to get to know her and follow her college career." She and Bill own AJR Industrial Services and Walker Composites—Robyn is chief financial officer for both companies. The couple celebrated 24 years of marriage this year. Their daughter, Allie, is a sophomore at Union University and was initiated into Kappa Delta. Their son, Jackson, is a freshman in high school. Robyn's favorite hobby is planning the family's vacations, including traveling internationally and spending time at their lakehouse. Spending time together is precious to Robyn's family, and they are passionate about supporting Alpha Omega. "I have many memories of the house filled with laughter, some with tears, but all overflowing with love!" You can connect with Robyn at walk7488@bellsouth.net.
