AlwAys Anchored Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Gamma • University of Arkansas • Fall 2018 T he school year at the University of Arkansas is in full swing and our undergraduate members are enjoying a very active semester. Recruitment was a great success, but even more importantly, the chapter is maturing into a full chapter. The women are brimming with excitement in anticipation of the new chapter house. We can't wait to welcome our next pledge class into a new home. Excitement is already looming for next year! The building project is right on schedule, and we continue to manage the project within budget. The steel work is mostly complete, and the cement slabs for the lower and main floors were recently poured. Lumber has been delivered and the wall framing on the main floor has begun. We celebrated the final beam placement on October 5, with an informal "topping off" event. We can't wait for next year's Bid Day photo to be taken outside of our new house, and for so many Delta Gamma women to enjoy this new house for many years to come. Our focus has decidedly shifted toward interior fixture details and interior design. Our interior designer, Casey Correll-Wray Sarkin '82, has created an elegant, but comfortable interior for us. She has been a great partner. We can hardly contain ourselves with excitement. We've placed the order for both bedroom and dining room furniture. Additionally, we are interviewing kitchen management companies that will manage our meal plans and kitchen operation. Soon, we will turn our focus to selecting a House Director (aka Housemother). To date we have raised $1,976,718 from 251 loyal alumnae, parents, friends, and supporters of Delta Gamma. We are so thankful for their financial contribution to the campaign. We couldn't do this without the support of our amazing donors! While we are thankful for the funds that have been raised so far, we know there is a need to continue this momentum. Exceeding our $2 million goal will offset the debt and set us up for success for years to come. We want these women to experience the same opportunities you did as a member, so we will continue to accept new gifts through the opening of the chapter house. This means there is still time to add your name to our growing list of supporters! If you have yet to donate to the campaign, now is the time! Making a pledge or gift of $2,500 or more by December 31, 2018, will ensure that your gift is permanently acknowledged in the chapter house. Please use the enclosed pledge form TODAY to set up a pledge to our campaign. Remember, all gifts are 100% tax deductible. If you have already donated, consider adding another year onto your pledge, or sending in another contribution. If you don't see a sister's name on the donor list, reach out to her today and encourage her participation in this once-in- a-lifetime opportunity! We need support from every sister to reach our goal. Thank you for all you have done, and continue to do, as a Delta Gamma! In 1997, she began her own design firm and hasn't stopped since. Casey's career success eventually led her back to her home at Alpha Omega, where she is now working with the capital campaign on the new chapter house. "When I heard Delta Gamma was coming back to campus, I wanted to help in any way I could," Casey said. "I'm very honored and excited about collaborating on the design of the house." Casey graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in marketing and worked a variety of jobs before finding her current path. She moved to Dallas after graduating to work at Smith Barney, later shifting into retail management. Then, she moved back to Northwest Arkansas to open her own women's clothing store, which she ran for seven years before selling it to concentrate on her family. "When my boys were off to school, I started my interior design firm, and I'm still going strong today." During her design career, Casey has achieved multiple honors and noteworthy jobs, such as lead designer for the Susan G. Komen house in NWA. Her designs have been published in various magazines, she was invited to join Dering Hall (an internationally-acclaimed design website), A NEW HOME FOR ALPHA OMEGA Casey Correll-Wray Sarkin '82 Hired as Chapter's Interior Designer (Continued on page 3)
