Epsilon Beta Chapter 4 A Letter from Lucy Sharp, Epsilon Beta's House Director Excitement around Chapter House Continues T he 2017-18 school year has drawn to a close and this semester has been challenging due to the construction of our new addition. However, we are so excited to see it being built before our very eyes! It will be a wonderful space for future Kappas. With great excitement and anticipation, we have watched the construction become a reality. The new kitchen will provide more space, and new equipment will provide endless opportunities to improve and enhance our meal service. The updated 24/7 new and fun snack line will be the go-to for quick breakfast and snack preparation for our girls. Our chef, Cher, has been closely involved in the design and is getting to see her dreams of a new cooking facility exceed her expectations! We envision: • Holding special events here again such as Mom's Day, Parent/Family Day, philan- thropic events, sisterhoods, dance prac- tices for Homecoming, and more! • A larger dining capacity for Monday night dinners, enabling us to feed the entire chapter. • Providing an expanded menu and more choices. Fall 2018 is just around the corner! We had 34 graduates this year and celebrated them in style as they closed this chapter (the Epsilon Beta Chapter!) of their lives—senior dinner, senior sendoff (formal at the new stadium), and senior preference night (complete with red velvet cupcakes just like during recruitment). It's always hard to say goodbye to those leaving, but we wish them all the best. The house closed May 12 and will remain closed for remodeling over the summer, so if you'd like to visit, please plan to do so in the fall. Enjoy your summer! Lucy Sharp House Director lucykkghd@gmail.com Kitchen Renovations to Benefit Staff and Chapter Members More Storage and New Equipment to Allow Many Possibilities F inals week recently wrapped up at CSU and the activity around the house was understandably about studying, move-out, and some goodbyes. This year, however, has an extra dimension of excitement. The house as a whole, and the 60-year-old kitchen in particular, is preparing for a HUGE change with our renovation and expansion. We are busy dismantling the contents of our food service area, storing what we can, and donating older equipment. Thank you to our neighbors, AGR. The transition to the new facility began Friday, May 11. Watching the building go up out of our back windows has been exciting. All that planning for years now seems very real. The new kitchen and snack line/serveries will greatly enhance our ability to provide a comfortable, convenient, and fun food experience. Many of the barriers to a modern, efficient program that we have lived and worked with for years (17 years for me!) will be a thing of the past. Newly expanded storage, refrigeration, cooking equipment, and dining areas will allow us to provide more varied, interesting menus and honor the wide variety of tastes and preferences for busy student lifestyles. Formal dinners, and special events, including sisterhoods and philanthropies, will now be easily accommodated. The possibilities really are endless. I am honored to be included in the planning and design of the food service area/kitchen and want to thank Pam Maloney '81, Merrole Pence Steinway, Gamma Omicron '75, and the rest of the House Board and planning committee for their tireless work to bring this exciting new building into reality. I can't wait for the fall semester!
