3 ALPHA DELTA PI Alpha Delta Pi Sisters Make Gifts in Honor of Each Other Jerry Banks Williams '63 and Pat Musick '63 Share 50-Year Friendship "Making a contribution to the ADPi capital campaign in honor of my pledge sister, Pat Musick '63, is a genuine pleasure. It's a way to let her know how much she has meant and continues to mean to me. This gift is a concrete way to document our friendship that began in those college years. She is the one who introduced me to ADPi back in the mid-'60s. I arrived at Oklahoma State University from Arkansas a day before classes began and was assigned to a remote dorm with no roommate. I chose OSU because it had a major that interested me (textiles and journalism) and didn't know any- one there. On the first day, Patty and I had four classes together and became friends immediately. She had pledged ADPi, introduced me to the sorority, and I pledged informally that first semester. Being alone on a huge campus, the sorority gave me a family and a base from which to become involved in a wide variety of activities. I'll always be grateful for the friends I made during those four years and for the opportunities I had because of my affiliation with ADPi. I hope that the sorority plays a similar role in the lives of future members and that they will be inspired by Pat's work on campus. She was editor in chief of the O'Colly student newspaper and an outstanding student who brought much respect to the ADPi house." –Jerry Banks Williams '63 "What's the old saying? You're lucky in life if you can count your true friends on one hand? If it is so, then Jerry Banks Williams '63 occupies one of those fingers—probably the thumb because it's the most useful. Our friendship has endured more than 50 years and many miles—she lives in Tennessee and I live in Sydney, Australia. As she says, we met on the first day of classes starting with orienta- tion. By the time we met up in our fourth class together, social dance, we were firm friends. I was so pleased when she decided to pledge ADPi. I edged her out to win the pledge class scholarship ring, but she probably trounced my grade average every other semester. She is too modest to mention that she was a Dorothy Shaw Award winner. One of the suites will bear her name and I hope the sisters who live there will aspire to Jerry's accomplishments, both in scholarship and campus activities." – Pat Musick '63 Pat Gallagher Shares Why He's Giving Back to Alpha Omicron "My wife, Kathryn, and I are both Oklahoma State graduates and were a part of Greek life. I was a Phi Gamma Delta and Kathryn was a Kap- pa Kappa Gamma. Our two daughters, Michelle Gallagher Rock '88 and Shawna Gallagher Thompson '91, both joined Alpha Delta Pi. I'm a firm believer that the Greek life experience is a unique opportunity for a student to gain skills, friends, and qualities that will last a lifetime. "I was motivated to give to the campaign be- cause I saw ADPi give my daughters an opportu- nity for a more robust college experience. They seized chances for friendship, leadership, and learning skills that they still carry with them. I am confident our family contribution to this proj- ect will help Alpha Omicron Chapter continue to provide outstanding opportunities for young women. Their ADPi experience made them bet- ter mothers, wives, daughters, professionals, and citizens—what more could a parent ask for?" – Pat Gallagher
