Beginning as a Homecoming event in 1936, fraternities would compete in a singing competition in the Memorial Union. However, during World War II when most men le to fight overseas, the sororities continued the competi- tion and the collaborative effort of teaming up men and women began in 1951. roughout the history of this event, Lambda Chi Alpha has been front and center in this competition—winning several times throughout the decades. Lambda Chi Alpha prides ourselves in our com- petitive history. In the past decade, we have won first place in eight of the 10 competitions! We have used themes ranging from Dr. Seuss, Earth Wind & Fire, and Queen, and we are always one of the top fraternity performances in Gill Coliseum. By par- ticipating, freshmen immediately grow closer as a class and with their sorority Sing partner through their many practices of singing, stunting, and putting together a fantastic show. Although the competition ends on Mom's Weekend in May, the memories and friends made from this traditional event can last a lifetime.
