Our members are consistently encouraged to live by our motto of Real. Strong. Women. while continuing to empower other women to embody the same. Our members serve as ambassadors across all corners of campus, including UMatterWeCare, multi-cultural and diversity affairs, campus diplomats, and Florida Cicerones, which are the offi cial student ambassadors to the University of Florida. In the past couple months, Gamma Iota has partaken in a multitude of events organized by our executive members. Our philanthropic event Purple Rain raises money for a local domestic violence shelter. On February 9 we had over 400 people in attendance—our most successful event to date. On Saturday, February 17 our sisterhood retreat took place at Magic Kingdom, where all Gamma Iota members were invited to have a stress-free and adventurous day. While we participate in and provide a wide variety of programs and involvement opportunities, one of our highest priorities is academics. Before midterms started this semester, we held a study marathon for our members. This eight-hour event involved holding quiet hours for members to have an atmosphere conducive to studying, as well as providing brain food for those participating. Our chapter-wide GPA is 3.509, which ranks us fourth out of all 65 chapters across all four Greek Councils. As we continue through this semester, there are changes happening in various Greek communities across the country. We have action plans to ensure the safety and health of all our members, and as chapter president, I have committed to these values being our number one priority. We are very excited to see what the rest of the semester has in store!
