In September, we had the honor of welcoming Gamma Iota alumnae back home for our annual alumnae tailgate. Women who once spent hours on end in the green room, binging movies with sisters, and late nights up in the study room, had the chance to re-enter the doors of 820 W. Panhellenic Drive and relive their heydays. Many women came to the tailgate accompanied by their partners and their children. They had the opportunity to share a past chapter of their life with the people most important to them in their current one—their worlds collided. The women excitedly pointed out their composites throughout the house to their loved ones and discovered the changes made to their old bedrooms. They were back home and loving every minute of it. "It's so great that even though life constantly changes around you, you can always count on Alpha Chi and the sisterhood that it provides to stay the same," Rianna Smith '13 said. Active sisters gave tours to the many alumnae who visited and got to hear stories of Alpha Chi back in the day. Others sat in the dining room, munching on cookies and fruit while they caught up with sisters they went to school with. Although years had passed, it was like nothing had changed. For more recent graduates, their glory days in Alpha Chi weren't too long ago. Nonetheless, the house and the chapter is ever changing. Shalla Galanos '13, who graduated last spring, said coming back allowed her to catch up with sisters, meet new members, and see all the changes made in the last year. "I recently graduated," said Galanos, "so it was great reconnecting with my sisters and seeing all of the fun changes to the house." We encourage any alumnae who may not have had a chance to attend this year's event to try and attend one in the future. When you join Alpha Chi Omega, you have a home away from home for the rest of your life. It warmed our hearts to be able to meet the women who called Alpha Chi home before us and we look forward to meeting the many women who will call it home after us.
