Memories on Milledge
p. 2
PBF
In a nutshell, tell us a bit about yourself.
I have been married to my husband, Chris, for
36 years and I'm a mom to three grown sons:
Ben, Brad and Luke. I spent 15 years leading
corporate communications at electric and
natural gas utilities, and then opened my own
business, Insight Strategic Communications.
Three years ago I started a second agency, Nest
Egg Communications.
What are you most proud of?
My business has been recognized four times in
the Bulldog 100 for being one of the fastest-
growing businesses led by UGA alumni. I never
thought I'd be an entrepreneur, but it's been
rewarding.
What impact has Pi Phi had on your life and
career?
I had my first real opportunities for leadership
at Pi Phi. I didn't realize it at the time, but
my role as recruitment chairman was really
about marketing, communications and
leadership, which turned into key
components of my career.
Who consistently inspires you?
I'm inspired by people who
choose to make a difference in
their communities, in big and
small ways—those who identify a
problem and spend the time working
for a solution.
Favorite Pi Phi memories?
I'll always remember spring afternoons, sitting
on the fire escape steps with the doors open
playing music, the excitement of a candlelight
ceremony and how everyone looked the first day
of recruitment.
Best advice you've ever received?
Only worry about the things that you can
control. Don't spend a minute worrying
about stuff that might happen.
Favorite quote
"No act of kindness, however
small, is ever wasted."
What do you enjoy doing the
most now?
I mentor students at UGA and get
tremendous satisfaction from watching
them grow and start their careers. I also enjoy
any time Chris and I can travel some place new.
