Y ou may not realize this, but you are the Chapter House Corporation (CHC). Every initiated member of Georgia Alpha is a member. And, while we all carry a small piece of Pi Phi and 886 South Milledge in our hearts, little did we know that we truly remain a part of this chapter—in many ways we "carry" a physical piece of this house. As CHC board members, we serve on behalf of all members of Georgia Alpha. This service is an honor and a responsibility. While there are times as most of us drive from Atlanta to Athens, we wonder "why are we doing this?"— the answer becomes clear. Pi Phi gave us a college experience that we value so much, and we want to make sure other young women who come to UGA can build a lifetime of friends and memories. LATEST IMPROVEMENTS In this issue of Memories on Milledge, we want to share photos of our latest improvements to the house—a refresh to the downstairs rooms. In 2015, over 200 Georgia Alpha alumnae and friends made donations to purchase new dining room furniture. Raising $60,000 in 60 days was our goal. We surpassed that goal by about $10,000 and with that additional money, and some CHC savings, we created a place that was more youthful and gave the residents more areas for studying. THE CHAPTER WISH LIST Each year the CHC board asks the chapter to give us a "wish list" of what they would like for the house. For about the last 20-plus years, the number one item on this list is a chapter room/ study room. Currently, chapter meetings are held on the floor in the living room. We must expand the house and make their wish come true! TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS With this crying need, the CHC board is committed to finding a way. However, we will need every member, including you, to be committed. Our first step in this direction has been taken: We have worked with the Pi Beta Phi Foundation to start a Georgia Alpha CHIP (Chapter House Improvement Plan) where you can make tax-deductible donations that will go to our plans for an addition to the house. Just think, if we all made a $50 or $100 donation each month, we would be well on our way. Our beloved Sis Mullis, South Carolina Alpha '62 (former Grand President and now serving again on Georgia Alpha AAC) often corrects us when we mistakenly say "I was a Georgia Alpha" or "I was a Pi Phi." She reminds us that we are Pi Phis. We are Georgia Alphas. And you can still be a part of something very special and it doesn't take a major commitment. Just get active in some small way. Visit the house. Send the chapter a note during exams. Attend Founders' Day on April 7 on campus. Post fun pictures of your UGA experience on Facebook @PiPhiMemories. Find a way to support the chapter that works with your schedule. You'll be glad you did!
