10A – Daily News – Friday, April 16, 2010 ROUND-UP Agents tops at Chili Cook-off The People’s Choice award in Saturday’s Interna- tional Chili Society Chili Cook-off in downtown Red Bluff went to Preferred Agents, which collected 194 votes and received a check for $100. A local competitor, Lydia Culligan, took home a third place title in the Salsa division and Red Bluff’s Umpqua Bank took the prize for booth show- manship, which came with a check for $100. ICS Red Chili top win- ner was John Jepson, of Merced, who received $500. Sonny Allen, of Day- ton, Nev., was second and Gerry Lind, of Rock- lin, was third. Allen and Lind recei v ed $200 and $100 respec- tively. Chili Verde winner was Lynn Robinson, of Lincoln, with Barbara Beaver and Jim Beaver, both of Mam- moth Lakes, in second and third place. Prizes for this category were $200, $125 and $75. Ahead of Culligan in the Salsa division were Stephen “Sporty” Pair, of Redding, in first and Skip Cooley, of Reno, Nev., in second. Pair received $100 for the win. The first place winners in each category will represent the Red Bluf f Round-Up Regional at the World Championship Chili Cook-off in October. Chief Judge Steve McIn- tire thanked Michelle Blunkall for all the work she does to keep this cook- off one of the best, and Chief Scorekeeper Margo Knudson and all the score- keepers and judges.
